Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

Hopefully it will be before he leaves Rivendale and gets all funky and dirty. :lol

I don't care if it's funky or dirty, or if it's just come back from the cleaners :lol, but if SS's going to include that cloak they'd better use real fur because there's nothing uglier than fake fur. :lecture

Where is this Rivendale you speak of my lady.:nana:

Boromir in PF would be one i would consider but would have to be quite excellent to better this piece.

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

I can't tell you how dissappointed I am. The exclusive isn't sold out yet and we haven't had any trolls posting how this is proof this line is failing. :rotfl

I still haven't ordered yet. I'm debating whether to pick up the exclusive or just get the regular through retail. Although I prefer the exclusive arm the regular is nice as well and I can easily shave off 20% ordering through retail.

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

I'm not collecting the maquette line, but I think that Boromir came out fantastic. Great dynamics and expression, and I love the flag. I think that Sideshow is doing a really nice job with this line and I hope they keep it up.

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

I think you really need the sword raised to go with the shouting/open mouthed head sculpt. If his mouth was closed, I could see the sword down--but you don't stir the troops into a frenzy waving a flag and shouting "For Gondor!!!" without your sword pointing up in the air.

At least, that's been my experience.

Good point. :lol Looking at the zoom gallery of photos - I have to say that flag really is quite stunning.

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

I just ordered the EX. Dang he looks so good. One thing that I am concern is the size, I am just worry it will be too small for my taste as most of my collection are 1/4 scale, but I can't resist he looks so damn good. Because of him I also ordered Gandalf EX Maquette, I will get him Wednesday :yess: So far I like the pose and the likeness of all statues on this line, they are amazing, my only concern is the size, but I am sure I will get used to it. Other than the size, I much prefer the maquette line then the PF line.

I like the size of the PF line better but I don't like the material/cloth that they used. I bought Gandalf the grey PF, great likeness but too much cloth for me. I don't have any other PF but by looking at the pictures it looks like Aragorn PF and Legolas PF are the same thing, too much cloth and I don't like the pose (the maquette's pose is much better). I do like the LOTR bad guys PF, imo on the PF line the bad guys are better than the good guys maybe because they use less cloth?

Did sideshow mention they gonna do the bad guys in the maquette line?

SS has stated this line will be expansive and will include both good guys and bad. It looks like the Mouth of Sauron is at or near the top of bad guys SS is currently working on. The only thing we don't know is whether or not he will be on his steed.

I love reading about more and more people joining in on this line. Plus, I bet the GTG EX. will be sold out soon huh?

:)

Yeah I was thinking the same thing myself, it's great to see new people jumping on board. I'm a bit surprised Boromir isn't sold out yet, but I suppose that's a sign of the times......so many collectible options for collectors, so little money and space. :dunno I can guarantee one thing....if SS adds the 2nd headsculpt whatever statues still left will be flying out the doors. :lecture

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

okay, I bailed on this line after Gandalf arrived at my door. Not because I didn't like them, both Aragorn and Gandalf look fantastic, but I just don't know if I should start up another line.

Every time I see the Boromir product page I want to click thru and order, but I know once that happens, I'm all in.

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

My mantra is simple: If it looks good, I order it. With the collection busting at the seams, I can afford to be picky and no longer have to worry about completing a line. Sideshow kinda does what they like anyway. So . . .why worry? Buy it if you like, because there's no rule that the line will ever finish! Don't buy thinking the line will continue. Buy it because your heart feels it's an awesome sculpt!

I clicked through.

A day or two later, I had already ordered Boromir, purchased Aragorn and Gandalf, put in wait list requests for Legolas and Gimli, and boxed up all my PFs to sell off. I watched the line for a year, and this was the announcement that pushed me over the edge.

I think that a year from now, it will be harder to go back and get them all. I watched the original SS/W line for too long before starting to make purchases, and soon it was too late to have a complete set. I don't want to make the same mistake this time.

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

Gee Tom . . I didn't realize you didn't get to collect the whole Fellowship in SS/W format. At least I have that to fallback on. Big reason why I haven't sold any of mine. SS has yet to maintain a line that has the Fellowship complete beyond the SS/W partnership.

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

Nope, I have yet to collect the entire Fellowship from Sideshow after all these years. I am going out on a limb and switching lines in the hopes that this will be the first time since SS/W that they will offer all nine heroes in the same format.

Personally, I don't think that limb you are on is very long. In the 1st year alone we have gotten 5 fellowship members and we're basically 2 maquettes away from getting the complete fellowship....and I would be shocked if we don't see the Merry/Pippin, Sam/Frodo maquettes within the next year. People seem to conveniently forget that SSW didn't produce the last of the fellowship members [Pippin] until approx. 4 1/2 years or 40+ statues into that line, and that at one time many were wondering whether or not SSW would ever get around to producing Pippin. I think within the next 6 month's to a year we will also see something never accomplished previously, namely maquettes of two primary characters that were inexplicably never produced by SSW...Eomer and Faramir.

:lol I just took the easy way out. Going with the movie quote was alot simpler than going through the book trying to find out whether Gandalf actually said that.....
