So sick of COD. Was a huge fan of the original, then they just started to go downhill. Now it's so uninspired I don't even know where to begin. I honestly haven't seen much of this one because I could care less, but aside from the online gimmicks implemented to take more of your money it just looks like they copied MW 1 and 2 and slapped a 3 on the box.

Seems a lot of the current fans think the franchise started with MW 1. I really wish this franchise would go away, but I know it won't. Activision might as well be printing money. Oh well you know what they say about a fool and his money, though maybe it might be more apt to say a fool and his parents money in the case of COD.

^^ you should say one or two nice things to avoid being labelled a troll.

Well I did say I was a fan of the original :lol

I did buy black ops, didn't pay for the three that came before but did own them. A lot of my criticism is directed at the single player which I know is becoming less and less important than multiplayer.

Sure COD has introduced things to competative FPS gaming that other franchises have copied. Yet I still can't help but feel that it has become stagnant. Black ops was the least fun I've had with an online FPS in a while. If you still enjoy it and are excited for MW3 then that's great. I just can't feel excited for this series anymore, and I wish I could. More options in gaming is always a good thing, and for the time being I have one less option when it comes to an online FPS.

The problem with the CoD series IMO the last few releases has been the MP. Whoever is making it seems to put out a buggy MP that glitchers and cheaters can take advantage of. Not to mention the kill streaks have gotten a little out of control. If they could just balance that out by going to dedicated servers and really getting rid of kill streaks this game could be so much more fun.

I fully agree with you. Dedicated servers would be great. And I also agree with you about the killstreaks. I think part of the problem COD suffers from is it's varying designers feel the need to outdo themselves and the franchise has made a name for itself with it's over the top set piece moments and killstreaks so these two things seem to get crazier and crazier. Though black op's did do a little better with its killstreaks than MW 2.

Yup, and the only game to have a beta was the first MW, and it was the only good game they made (post WWII games). After it's success IW were cocky SOBs and put out crappy games.

Haven't played a COD game since maybe 2 months after MW2 came out, and won't play another one.

A game can't be taken seriously if shotguns can 1) be duel wielded and 2) shoot across a map. Model 1987 fail.

Youre not wrong, Octo. thing is...the fans of the series know it's mostly a rehash and they're still getting it. Myself included. It's not unlike being a Madden fan and getting that every year. Probably seems like a waste to others, but to us, it's just a given that we check out the newest CoD. I pretty much see MW3 as a reskinned MW2, but that's actually enough for me to want it hehe. New maps, perks, guns and killstreaks is enough for me and probably every other fan of the series.

Josh, I have a feeling this CoD is going to be the most spastic and frustrating yet. Not from exploits but just from how the games made. You'll have beast players even more beast, running around with 20 perks active. Bad players will be able to unleash powerful killstreaks like crazy (juggernaut will be VERY annoying) and then theres still the regular assault class killstreaks that we all know and love/hate. All of this with stackable killstreaks returning. It's going to be absolute chaos and I dont know if it'll be in a good way or not. It'll take a while to see if all these changes will work or not. It'll be interesting...that much is certain.

My favorite change in Black Ops was taking away stackable killstreaks. Made the game much less hectic without all that crap flying around the map.

Heh, too true bout the shotguns. However from what I've read I wouldn't put the blame on IW, I would put it on Activision (Bobby Kotick mainly) being greedy SOB's. After MW 1 IW was ready to move on and do something new, but Activision wasn't ready to stop milking their cash cow. So they forced IW to do MW 2, and it shows that the designers didn't put their hearts into that game. This is what started the mass exodus of IW employee's and the whole lawsuit thing. Sad really.

They should probably name them Call of Duty Modern Warfare '11 to be followed by Call of duty (Treyarch version) '12.

Fans wouldn't expect revolutions then, they'd know it was an updated version and be happy that that it is what it is.

Thank's for the thoughtful response. I never thought about the madden analogy, and using that perspective it makes sense. Though I also think madden, and most sports games are the biggest rip off's in gaming when it's usually just an updated roster, but I digress.

See it's the game designer in me that is fueling most of what I have said. I'm a little jaded because of my education in making games, and I tend to expect more from new releases then the general consumer. If all MW3 turns out to be is just a big expansion to the previous 2 and that's fine for the majority of fans, then that's great. What is frustrating for me is to see what COD originally was, and what it has turned into, and like I said I'm more a fan of the original. However COD has found it's target audiance, and is giving them more of what they want, and that is great for the fans.

This is why I think I'm gonna wait to see how this game is before buying it. I'll have games higher on my list of wants in my hands and can be quite ok if I have to pass on this one.

Oh, I agree completely. I'd much rather get a bad a$$ new CoD that they've spent years rebuilding from the ground up, but we all know why that hasn't happened. Activision. Pretty soon, the engine will get so outdated that Activision will have no choice but to invest a couple years in development. Knowing Activision though, I wouldn't put it past them to create a third developer instead of having to skip a year.

Hehe, I'm also with you on the sports games. Madden especially. They seem to put less into that game every year.

The madden analogy is the perfect comparison. I usually think the same thing, I dont get why people get all crazy for those sports games that rarely ever change yet...I go out and buy COD after COD...its all the same in the end.

Yeah, pretty much. With Madden, I just think it's a lack of competition. It was all downhill once EA bought NFL exclusivity. With CoD, I guess it's just how good the foundation of the gameplay is. They know the less they change, the better ultimately. IW made such a strong engine, they don't want to screw with it. Then again..they don't have time to screw with it hehe.

It's the same over here with the FIFA games, year after year they bring a new one out with very small changes and everyone buys them!

If I get this game I'll probably only play the campaign and Survival. I'll get my deathmatch fix from Gears 3, Battlefield 3, and Uncharted 3.

The negative comments about COD are not that its a bad game franchise, but rather that the format has grown stale, its not as realistic as others and there are too many cheaters.

When playing the single player on Killzone 3, at the beginning when disguised as the helghast there was this awesome HUD from their helmet.

This made me wish that when playing as the helghast in multiplayer, the HUD woul appear, and this made me think that one way to rejuvinate some FPS games would be to have different team specifics for each faction, abilities, perks, UI and other differences.

The majority of people are saying that this looks like crap, and just a rip-off of MW2. So I'm just wondering whether, I should get this, or Black Ops?
