Sorry, one drink or glass of wine a day is good for you. It doesn't eat your brain or make your liver stop working.

I'm betting my life it isn't.
There is no use for alcohol, anyway. There is nothing it can do that a healthy diet can't do better, without any harm to your body.
If people want to drink or smoke, it's their bodies to do with as they see fit. If they want to destroy themselves, it's their business, so long as it only affects them.

It's sad, but if they think the harm is worth any sensation whatever sensation it gives them, that's their decision.
However, to say it has no harm is delusional. Admit it's harmful and acknowledge that you want to do it, but don't say it isn't harmful. That's just lying to yourself.

I can have some respect for knowingly assuming the harm in something and doing it, but when people act like the thing they do has to be safe in order for them to do it, because they couldn't justify doing it if they knew it was bad, that just seems like cowardice to me.
If people say they drink alcohol because they can't handle their stress and it's worth an early grave, I understand that, but to candy coat a bad habit so you can rationalize it to yourself so you can do it is being dishonest.

It's sad.

So drink more.

I'm betting my life it isn't.

Holiday heart syndrome, the fact it dissolves into water in the cells, dehydration, drop in testosterone, fertility is affected, permanent damage to the connection between nerve cells, kills the oxygen-carrying red blood cells which causes anaemia, inflammation of the pancreas.. So yes, it isn't good at all long-term. That's from 35 pints a month for a year.

Well said sir, but may I be inclined to ask if you enjoy a drink or two through socializing? I'm not insinuating that in order to enjoy yourself alcohol is necessary by any means. Nor am trying to be sarcastic, but just out of curiosity. I respect your opinions on the debate at hand, but there must be some kind of guilty pleasure you enjoy that is potentially harmful if consumed/ingested more frequently if not moderately.

I choose to smoke marijuana, even though there are potential risks associated to my health (which as of yet is not entirely proven). I smoke an average of 6-8 grams a week, give or take a gram for over a span of 10 years. I have yet to see any effects in regards to memory loss or any other health risks that I am told are associated with smoking marijuana. The only concern I really have is inhaling smoke, so I use a vaporizer most of the time when using. I mean until there are concrete facts on the dangers of smoking marijuana that are of real concern to me I may in fact consider quitting. Then again I don't intend to be smoking marijuana into my 50s. I say everything in moderation won't kill you, especially if you lead a healthy and active lifestyle. By no means am I your "typical stoner", because unlike most I am rather productive when under the influence. I feel that those who have never had the opportunity to consume alcohol and/or marijuana moderately or at all really serve no purpose in these sort of discussions . . . But everyone is entitled to their opinion, it just really isn't valid IMO.

From someone who knows about drugs and alcohol.

I did drink a little for a few years and I was unimpressed with alcohol. I did however see people I knew do really dumb or bad things while drinking, like drinking so much they didn't know who people were, or killing themselves while driving drunk.
I never got drunk.
As far as my vices, I like chocolate soy milk, and potato chips a few times a month. That's as bad as it gets. I used to have soy ice cream quite frequently.
On a related note, I have had hempseed oil a few times, and know only health benefits. I tried hemp seeds and hemp protein powder, but those made me feel high, even though people say they don't. I am a great advocate of industrial hemp, like hemp paper, fabric, rope, and fuel.
It is very astute of you to use a vaporizer vs smoking. My compliments.

Inhaling vapor won't coat your lungs with tar, so that isn't as bad. I guess it wont affect your breathing much that way.

No, you're awesome. You come into this forum like Albert Schweitzer saving the inferior Africans who are doomed without your superior point of view.

You have the Blackthornone's burden, and we should thank you.

Blackthornone, instead of all this talk and whine and crap, why not do what I do? Go work in at a rehab center. It gives a much better feeling to actually help addicts instead of acting like a higher force because you don't do drugs or alcohol.

The way I see it, we get one life why not enjoy it. Is it really fun to try to avoid every substance known to man that maybe harmful too you. I am not condoning drug use or drinking to excess, but its just seems the constant worry about avoiding everything bad for u will lead to a life lacking enjoyment. Moreover, stress is one of the worst things for your health, it just seems to me that the tradeoff won't yield a huge difference in life expectancy. Alot of people that I know that are really health conscious seem terribly stressed out all the time. Escaping/releasing and letting yourself have fun from time to time is also key to a healthy life.

I think that not doing drugs or alcohol makes one normal, not "a higher force".

I'm straight edge as all hell, I used to think like you, and I've noticed it's BS. The stuff you think about it, makes it seem like you're in some kind of cult or something. If you think people who don't do drugs and alcohol are normal, why not help others be "normal" too?

Hell, everyone is "normal". Some have a problem, others don't. (Not talking about people who drink a beer every now and then, I'm talking addicts) No need to judge people as abnormal.

I feel bad for being straight edge cause of people like you.
