This.

This was what everyone in my group was talking about when we left the film on Thursday. "How the **** does this have a 90%???" was one of my friend's reactions when I showed him the RT score on my phone.

I gave up on the critics earlier this year - but man, are they losing even more credibility with this movie.

It's how the RT system works. A critic can score a film as average or above average and it would be counted as "Fresh". Only when a score drops below 60% does a review count as "rotten".

So all of you that scored the movie 6/10 and up would be counted as "Fresh".

That said, this is one of the Marvel "origin" stories I enjoyed the most. I thought it did a good enough job at introducing the character to people that don't read the comics, explain the rules of his world/abilities and set-up potential storylines for future sequels. I also think they just introduced the next best villain next to Loki.

They characterized Mordo well enough and gave us a good insight on what his motivations are. I think this is what they did really well. I viewed Kaecilius as more of a filler villain to setup Mordo. Now we'll have a villain that isn't really "bad", out for his own selfish intents, or lusting for power coming up. He's going to be a very interesting character for the inevitable Doctor Strange sequel, or even for a future Avengers movie.

ps: it's just a meme, it's not to be political.

Now watch as Nick Spencer goes ape****, puts Clinton in both his Captain America books, Red Skull becomes an even bigger allegory for Trump, continues writting about European affairs while knowing nothing, and Marvel comes out with an all out campaign. ****, here's a post I came across at CBR:

I think Marvel should absolutely explore the increased racial tensions that will result from Trump winning. Because there will be increased racial tensions. A racist ******* is now the President, swept into the office by other racist *******s. What happened tonight is Bad. And I think Marvel - and DC, for that matter, and everyone else - has to deal with it. They need to spend the next four years speaking out against the hate that got Trump elected, and against the hate that Trump will continue to spread as President.

This is not the time for Marvel to ease up. This is the time for Marvel to go all-frigging-out. To be more aggressively political than it has ever been.

That's what I want to see. "Oh, you think we've been really political lately? That was a warm-up. Now, we start getting serious."

What are they gonna do next? Make the new Moon Knight an Obese Wiccan? Have Sam Wilson travel to Europe and bring liberty by rescuing refugees? Jesus... I think it's time I waved most of Marvel goodbye...

PS: This is not a political statement, it's just that this is legitimately what's going to happen in Marvel now, and especially the Cap books. Spencer is a huge Clinton supporter who went on a rant a few days ago. Long gone are the days where anyone could enjoy Big 2 books it seems...

I can definitely see that happening in Marvel since their stories are very political lately, idk about DC, theyre zero political right now and their stories are all about fantasy.

The most politics they hav right now are one or two dumb remarks in Ruckas WW.

You made me worry now, I was enjoying the memes and watching sjw cry, but... my comics gonna suffer.

Maybe it wont happen and Marvel will realize sjw pandering is not the way.

Much as I like to **** on current Marvel, and as much as they deserve it, I don't see something like that happening. If you look at all the changes, they were all made by the creators themselves.

-FalCap? Remender's idea, just like BuckyCap was Brubakers.

-JaneThor? Aaron's, which is part of his ongoing saga.

-Riri? Bendis' idea 'cause he wanted his daughters to have a role model that represents them or something like that.

-Miles? Bendis', 'cause he grew tired of Parker, and wanted media attention (funny thing is, he's doing the same thing to Iron man now).

-Iron Doom? Completely Bendis' idea. Everyone else wanted to let Doom rest for a while after Secret Wars.

The only instances I can think of that were editorial mandated, are Kamala, X-23 and maybe Chulk. But yeah, apart from these, everything else falls on the creators. Granted, most Marvel writers share the same ideologies currently, but I don't think something like that guy posted on CBR is gonna happen.

And hey, if you think Marvel's bad, Valiant run a Faith issue where she saves Clinton, meets her, congratulate each other and then take selfies... So, yeah, there's always something worse...

Personally speaking, I am gonna cut down on my Marvel stuff. Black Panther is a 100% cancelation, with Deadpool and Doctor Strange following closely. The former because with the double shipping and extra/oversized/annual issues I end up paying 20 euros per month on DP alone, and DS because the book is simply awful as far as Stephen characterization goes.

From DC, I am considering dropping both Batman and Hellblzaer, actually. Batman has been average thus far, and Hellblazer is... there. Not good, not bad, just... there. Deathstroke remains one of my faves though.

One book that I am considering adding is Captain HYDRA though. Sencer's politics aside, the book is damn great. Only downside is, that it's already 7 issues in and rumor has it it'll lead into the next big event alongside T-Bolts and Uncanny Avengers. Another I'm considering is Ellis' "The Wild Storm", but it's Ellis, so it's probably gonna run for 6 issues, then be hit by delays, have another writer by issue 12, and then be cancelled by issue 20.

PS: The Trump tag over at Tumblr... Oh, boy...

So I watched Doctor Strange last Saturday...
Not much to say, really.
I only vaguely knew the character in the comics, so I had no preconceived notion of what he should be like.
The movie was good fun, as all Marvel movies usually are, and, as usual with Marvel movies, seemed to be completely forgettable.
But yeah, it's great fun to watch. Looking forward to seeing the Doc in Thor's next movie.

Just saw this and these are my sentiments also. Was as good as Thor but not better than any of the others, marvel does continue to cast extremely

I thought that it was definitely better than Thor but, for some reason Thor had more staying power, nobody's talking about this anymore, not even MCU fans, hype didn't last 3 days after release.

I've rewatched the third eye sequence a lot on the internet though, the movie should've been all like that, it's great.

Yeah more of that would be nice.

Her review is the best I've seen and I agree with most of it.
