Green Lantern Comic to Feature First Official Look at Corps Member from Live Action Film

Since Martin Campbell's live action Green Lantern comic adaptation began filming in March, fans have been eager to catch any glimpse of their favorite ring-slinging characters who will appear in the movie. Last month's Entertainment Weekly magazine gave us our first look at the film's stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Angela Bassett and Tim Robbins. Though Green Lantern isn't hitting theaters until next summer, with a massive marketing campaign beginning as early as February, we can now start an earlier countdown for the next "big reveal." This time around, you'll have to visit your local comic book shop to see it:

That isn't technically a spoiler since its been widely known for months now.

Essentially you take Legion from Emerald Dawn and replace him with Parallax, it helps bridge the continuity gap into the current GL mythos.

So much happier they went with Parallax. Still, Star Sapphire and Sinestro Corps in the (hopeful) sequels will be epicness. A bit curious as to how the music will be though.

I think I might just boycott this movie.

I mean, it looks good and all...but it ruined something I was looking very much forward too. So....i'm torn.

Deadpool is worth the sacrifice. It would have gone down with Ghost Rider and Daredevil in the halls of Marvel mediocrity. Besides, if Wade Wilson isn't disfigured for 90% of the movie, it isn't Deadpool, and I doubt Reynolds was privy to being in prosthesis for a whole movie, anyway.

Actually, he was totally down, and has said many times he would wear the mask, and don the make up.

He wasnt going to bull____ this. Which is why I'm sad. So no. I dont think it was worth it, for me...because I love Deadpool and dont know ____ about GL.

So i'm a bit pissed about this.

Well going with Parallax makes the transition to a Sinestro Corps much easier although it'll be interesting to see how they combine all that history into two hours and still have time for the epic storyline that was The Sinestro Corps War will be interesting.

Rumors are that if Fox isn't able to make money off of First Class or Wolverine 2 (and Deadpool if it happens) that they'll sell the rights back to Marvel, while a rumor I would be more than happy to sacrifice Deadpool, a Tier 3 character in a niche for a Marvel Studios universe that could include the Mutants.

Not in my eyes.

Well in a Green Lantern thread you'll find more GL fans me thinks....

I can relate somewhat. I am more familiar with the Marvel Universe and their characters so it IS disappointing Deadpool is nixed.

I have been reading GL novels lately and he doesn't appear to be lame character therefore, I will give it a shot. Regardless, next summer will be awesome with the comics to film lineup. I cannot wait :impatient:

I'm not knocking on GL. I think the movie looks amazing. I have nothing against the character....but i'm a Deadpool fan. So logicly i'd rather have a Deadpool movie. :dunno

I would think Sinestro either get a yellow ring at the end of this film or early in the next film. Then the second film should build up Sinestro being a threat with the yellow ring, Carrol becoming a Star Saphire and having a Catwoman type role (love interest/foe), and have another GL villian, perhaps Black Hand, be the 'main' bad guy. And then have the third film be the Sinestro Corp War with Sinestro's corp being formed at the begining, being a threat in the middle, and an all out mega-battle at the end (and they must have Kilowag and Arkillo fight at SDCC! :lecture).

At least that is how I picture them getting to the Sinestro Corp war. We can't ever really count on a film series going beyond a trilogy and I think the Sinestro Corp War is about as epic of a GL story as they will be able to pull off on the big screen. I'd love to see Blackest Night, but with all of the characters involved, it would only be possible as an animated film right now.

As for Marvel, I would love nothing more than to have anything non-Marvel studios fail miserably so Marvel Studios can bring it back into the fold and do it properly. I want Spider-man, the X-men, and the Fantastic 4 back so they can be done right and cross over with everyone else. A dream for me would be to have a Civil War film and you'd need Spidey and the FF to do that properly. If the Avengers does well enough, it could be entirely possible, albiet on a much smaller level since they can't get ALL of those heroes in the film.

I just think some of these 'blockbuster' comic events should eventually be used to make 'blockbuster' films. Sure it will take a lot of work, but the Sinestro Corp War and Civil War wouldn't be as unrealistic as Blackest Night. SCW probably has a lot better chance right now than a CW movie though, but hey, Marvel is on a roll right now and DC has yet to prove themselves yet (Nolan's films don't count since his Batman won't be apart of DC's film universe they are presumably starting with GL).

I pretty much agree with the 2nd film setting up Sinestro's fall from being a GL, start to the Sinestro Corps and have Carol become Star Sapphire. Also I thought of the 3rd film having an all out battle. I trust Campbell and crew though.

I love Deadpool about as much as GL, but I'd love to see the rights of X-Men go back to marvel. While I enjoyed the first two X-Men films and still enjoy Wolverine, the 3rd should have been one of the greatest things ever and was far from it. While Marvel is being rather cheap with actors and directors, their sense of direction is better imo. With Fox I always worry about the characters or story. While I love Jackman as Wolvie, i know reverting back to Marvel is for the best and I'm sure Deadpool will end up in better hands as well. I guess since I'm such a fan of both, I'm willing to hold out on Deadpool if it means getting a Hal Jordan GL trilogy and well as a Marvel Studio's X-Men. I just hope Ryan either way ends up still getting to play the merc with a mouth.
