Just returned from 3rd viewing, this time with wife and kid.

The jokes get worse with every subsequent viewing.

But the movie still works.

The ending holds up incredbly well.

How is the 3d though it at least worth in seeing in 3d never been to a 3d movie.

I tend to avoid 3D showings since the tech still tends to be a bit gimmicky and the tickets are more expensive in the UK, even if you have brought your own 3D specs (not sure if that applies elsewhere).. However at the time slot I had available for GotG, only a 3D showing was available, so I did see it in 3D.

Mostly it was ok (make sure you have 3D specs with clean, good condition lenses and *very important* sit in the middle of the cinema).. Some of the scenery on the deserted planet, was opaque rather than solid.. but Groot's floaty, light spores scene was just as good as the similar effect in Avatar.. most of the time the 3D is not intrusive, which is as it should be.. stuff flying out of the screen at you imho, remains one of the best uses of 3D, especially when you have forgotten you are watching a 3D film, which happens in GotG.

I just got back from watching it in 3D for the first time (first time saw it 2D) and the film was great in 3D. There are little things and jokes I missed the first time. My favorite scene is still the one with Ronan and Thanos. I love how Ronan kills the other without even touching him to show how powerful he is, yet he doesn't do anything against Thanos, even though he was calling boring, boy, and insulting him the entire time while smiling :lol It was a good way to show how powerful Thanos must be.

Really makes me wonder how bad Thanos is going to smash the Guardians and the Avengers before they all most come together, which is what I'm assuming must happen.

It's going to be ugly, especially if they do the infinity gauntlet story line... not that he needs it to beat the Avengers :lol

Yeah, its going to be a tough pill to swallow to see Hulk get so dominated but I know it's coming. I wonder how some characters like Star-Lord, Drax, Cap, Hawkeye, etc can even survive such an encounter...

Not necessarily, but in the infinity gauntlet story line Thanos fought and pretty much beat and killed the entire Marvel Universe, so It would make sense for the GOTG and the Nova corps to team up with the Avengers whenever they decide to use the infinity gauntlet story line. Something most people didn't even notice about GOTG is how at the end of the film in the after credit scene with Howard the Duck , Adam Warlock's cocoon was open/destroyed, which means he is free and part of that universe and he plays a major role in the Infinity Gauntlet story. What's even funnier is how Howard the Duck is sitting on/in the glass box where the cocoon used to be.

Adam Warlock's cocoon at the end of Thor 2

Adam Warlock's cocoon hatched at the end of GOTG. So the after credit scene was not pointless after all, unless it was Howard the Duck who was inside of it, and not Adam Warlock. That would be worse than the Mandarin twist :lol
