They kept the reused sculpt under wraps for the same reason they did so with the Mark III BD until the almost the day it released: Because they didn't want people cancelling pre-orders. And they'll never refer to the reused sculpts as such. They are being intentionally vague in this regard.

So if it is a reused sculpt, why weren't any photos of it released to this point? Especially after photos of the sculpt were released in advance of the Mark IV. No extra time was spent developing it or getting approval from Downey or his reps.

Considering there has been alot of whining about price hikes, I'm truly surprised that I seem to be the only one with a problem with this.

Again, it's a small complaint, as the figure looks great, but still...

We don't always need a new sculpt you know ,the expression on that sculpt also suits the scene just before his faceplate comes down and he fights alongside rhodey, they could have added some sweat to his face or maybe had his eyes looking to one side..but we should be glad that the head they reused is a very good one.

You are so caught up in this "hot toys are screwing us over" frame of mind that you can't see that this sculpt is perfect for this figure even if they used it before.

Isn't this being released early as test? maybe they wanted to see if we would accept the head sculpt?

Well it's out over there..

So one more month for us SSC guys? That box is packed... wonder if the little forearm will fit.

I'm surprised at people picking IV over VI... considering the only real fighting he did in the movie was done with VI... I have a hard time looking at the IV seriously (all he did was goof around in that armor).

If they already made a perfect HS why complain when they reuse it? It'd be stupid for them to make a new one after all the praise about this one...especially to put inside a helmet

Well they say this:

Newly sculpted head with authentic likeness of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in the movie, in newly developed helmet with removable mask

Right? Well the Mark IV sculpt is a newly sculpted head with authentic likeness of Robert Downey Jr. The helmet is newly developed since they aren't using MK III parts. It does have a removable mask. They are being completely honest from a certain point of view. They never said that the sculpt is directly created for the MK VI we are just assuming that. It looks good and in the end for me that is all that matters.

Exactly and like i said before the spec's for this figure were out before we even seen the iv sculpt.

I'm getting both. The Mark IV looks like a classic suit and I like it despite Tony acting like a rehtard in it during the movie.

People are not complaining just to complain. It's a perfectly valid critique if you take the past into consideration. There's a sense lingering that Hot Toys did want to include a brand new sculpt with the Mark VI. They had the same intention with the BD Mark III but pulled back when likeness negotiations fell through. They are doing the exact same thing as last time, only this time they have the luxury of fanboys not getting a leaked glimpse of the prototype in-helmet sculpt like we did when those scans of Milk Magazine leaked the open-mouthed Tony sculpt last year.

If they had intended to be truly honest about it, why didn't they release an official backstage photo of the MVI helmeted sculpt at all before it released?

That being said, I like the MIV sculpt enough that its reuse on the Mark VI isn't a deal breaker like it was with the MII sculpt on the BD MIII.

circle trumps triangle. I'm old school. Plus, the silver is too much IMO.

I wonder if negotiations fell through again or that maybe the delay with the four was they had planned on using this for both and wanted to get the most perfect sculpt they could. Either way neither was a deal breaker for me.

To me that was a different situation because they showed a whole new sculpt and touted it only to have it stopped because of likeness issues and then didn't even try to sculpt something new or fix it just threw the old head in.

Its a question of prefference. Some people preffer the Classic look and some like the Extremis armor. I went with the classic look because its closer to the Iron Man I grew up with. I dont really think screen time necessarily has to be the deciding factor.
