That's what I just saw on Twitter a few minutes ago.
He's one of these poor arm twisters however...

There don't seem to be a whole lot of people who actually think this thing is worth $400.00. Most say no, unless you are a "die-hard" fan.

I think, for all the people on the fence such as myself, the bastardizing of the voice feature dictates why it IS NOT.

I believe I actually might have talked myself into getting this (to go with Robo) if they didn't screw up a feature they DECIDED TO ADD.

So, in essence, they want everybody to pay for an extra $100 for a feature they mis-handled and did not make authentic.

Most people don't care or want this particular feature to begin with, so to add it and charge your customers a premium for it and then deliver something that is less than desirable is basically a slap in the consumer face if you ask me.

Sorry to all of you hoping this piece will "explode" in the aftermarket. But I strongly believe we would all be better served to let the ED 209 inventory sit and rot on the shelf until they, by default, drop the price to $300.00.

It also sends the message to take this feature seriously as far as authenticity goes if it is going to be added and pandered onto the consumer.

I was initially turned off in parts by the sound feature since I still think such a thing is pointless in many ways in any figure.

BUT:
This feature totally got me when I heard how crisp clear the sounds are.
The voice is... how to say that?
It say A LOT about a figure of this price segment if you like the voice of a crappy NECA figure (and after having HTs ED209 in hand the NECA figure IS crappy!!!) better than this ones.

I think this ED version will be available a long time but not because people don't like him or the sound feature but because of the steep price!

For me owning Elder Predator 2.0 and BD T1 T-800 has more dollar to product gratification than one Ed-209. Ed-209 never provided a $400+ “WOW” when I saw it displayed at my local store.

Well, I suppose that depends on personal taste.

I don't get the wow factor out of the most Predator figures.
The BD T800 is great though!

But RoboCop is ma all time favorite movie so ED209 is a must have for me.

Bit as I said: it all depends of your personal taste. :)

Agreed. And I also don't get the wow factor out of the most Predator figures as well!! My Predator collection is like the Sith. There can only be two! One masked/One unmasked! :)

Seeing Hamil collecting these is really cool. Could do a bit to better the look in the public eye about nerds.
:lol

Well, like I said before:
I like how they handled the feature and also like Eisselmann said how crystal the sounds are. I see the side of HT´s effort that they wanted to make the voice good and clear. Sure, they could´ve ran with the normal, but doing it this way and we getting the crystal clear sounds...I say it´s cool.
But I won´t use the feature anymore.

So, bunch of photos taken, can´t get enough this:

I think that alot of people are just quietly sitting back, such as myself. I bought Ed in a LCS and think it is DEFINITELY worth the money. I can't believe how much detail there is and how BIG it is for the money. Some Hot Toys figures are getting close to $300. The Bat Pod was $275 and that was just two big tires with some plastic parts in between. (no disrespect to the Bat Pod: I know it's awesome as well) This thing is really big and holds its' own even next to statues I own. (He's right above the Optimus Prime maquette)

Highly recommended to anyone on the fence. The sound is a non-issue. And there's no way that raised the price by $100. The neca toy had sound and it retailed for $59.99.

Seriously, buy it. It's too awesome for words.

Yes people aren't seeing reality- this is big, heavy, nicely detailed and insanely articulated for $400. Most HT figures are $230 or so these days. This is amazingly alot for your money
You DO have to LIKE the character though to buy it, that is without saying....
:slap

As much as I like the character i still think $400 is a LOT of money. That's the actual reality most people see. And, no. I don't think it's a lot for my money TBH.

I LOVE Robocop, though. Always wanted an ED, and now I have it. Now Robocop and I think I'm pretty much set with this whole collecting thing. It's getting ridiculous $$$ wise.

I'm completely with you on the voice. Replicating accurate and intricate details, articulation, scale, overall quality and so on are things that matter most in a high end piece like this. That's what collectors are looking for and most couldn't care less about the sound. This should've been done to perfection or not at all. Calling it a bastardization is putting it mildly!

As far as the price tag I think it's worth it in relation to the rest of the retail prices of HT products. That said, I think that the licensed side of the hobby reached a point where everything is $10-$40 overpriced. So yea, I see this better at $399 shipped from SS but things like Winter Soldier is $250 & DX13 was $315 so it's hard to think this should've been $300.

Aside from that I think that people throw around "this is a piece for the die-hards" for one really good reason; because it's a pricey item that takes up a lot of space. This isn't like a NECA fig for $18 or even a Play Arts fig for $50-$80 that you'd buy just because it looks cool, or you like the design and have no connection to the source material. Unless money and space aren't an issue, and someone could just grab it because it tickles their fancy, then that's one thing. But for most this is a pretty big purchase that requires some dedication.

That's an absolute steal, where did you get it so cheap?
Only time I wouldn't be upset about $60 in shipping

Yes, please tell me where so I can buy one NOW!

ENDO: dope pics man!

EDIT: Didn't realize Bandito was the one who scored it from amiami, too bad I missed out on that great deal. :(
