WTF? 'Item sent to customs'.

****ing great :slap

How can it be that a large heavy box marked as $80 is more suspicious to Irish customs than the large heavy boxes I've received from Timcent in the past marked as low as $30?! Surely the latter would come across as a more obvious attempt to dodge fees. I don't ****ing believe this.

I feel for the Europeans and others with tight customs. That's such a pain in the yarbles with the hold-ups and charges

This is actually a first for me on an order with Timcent. I guess the box is just too big. I should have known, not like I didn't have the old one as a guide.

I'm not sure. Normally when I get hit by customs its on BBTS orders and yet those don't get opened. BBTS's shipping tape remains intact. Customs just attaches the note about the fees to be collected based on the declared value and I pay the delivery guy. I'm hoping the same happens here. Not sure though, maybe they treat packages from Hong Kong differently, particularly massive ones packed externally by bubblewrap, I dunno.

I know your pain A-dev, I have been nailed by customs by Canada Post! I hope you don't have to get the lube ready ;)

Just for the record I bought mine a few months ago from a HK ebay seller and it shipped into the UK in 7 days with no customs charges or VAT to pay. Flew through customs!!!!

That's very weird A-dev, and bad news for us all.

You will be asked to send them a Paypal receipt. If you do nothing now, they will MAIL you a letter which asks you to send a Paypal or ebay receipt. Takes a few days to receive the letter. I normally pre-emtively email them first to speed things up. Just give them the tracking number and be very nice/polite innocent. But you will have to send them something or they won't release it.

I order a **** load of stuff from Timcent, never once stopped by customs (Tumbler, 89 Batmobile, Enterbay 1/4 etc, big things). They do seem to go in waves of attentiveness though. Like for a 2 week period every once in a while they check everything then fine for 6 months. I just got Thor earlier this week from him with no problems.
By the way you can easily fake a Paypal receipt in photoshop should you need to. :) Just move the decimal point or drop a zero. Or paste two paypal receipts together. Cut the transaction ID off the top so they can't trace it back to ebay.
:wink1:

Cheers for that Rory, I'm gonna bookmark your post for future reference. Although, interestingly my tracking now says 'Released from customs'. And I didn't do anything.

So I guess I'll find out tomorrow what I'm paying.

Normally, if it says "released from customs" you got away with it. Timcent puts separate printed receipts inside the package these days so hopefully they saw one of these and released it. I can't see how they can charge you without having an undisputed real cost. Fingers crossed mate, nothing like a customs sting to take the shine off a new purchase.

Must admit, I know this one is a vast improvement on the old one, but when you've had (and still have) the old one plus you got the NECA one only some months ago, it does reduce the excitement somewhat.
There's always some level of excitement when you've got something new but I'm not buzzing like someone would whose never had an ED-209. Should be here tomorrow.

That's why I went with a german seller.
That is my first ever RoboCop figure and customs would've spoiled my perfect unpacking experience of this beast, but I get where you comin' from.
Hope you don't have to pay something and can enjoy him.
I bet you will.

I guess I just don't get it. The box wasn't massive by any means. Maybe Timcent was right to wonder WTF I was doing - marking it $80 was too high for a HK import :dunno

Was charged 19euros 45cent. Not horrific but not as ideal as zero euros either.

Who cares, it's alright and finally you got it, mate.
:hi5
We germans have to pay value taxes, which means for the EB BD T2 I paid 400€
And 75 later on top in value taxes...

Sure if you already have some ED collectibles it may take away a little of the :panic: over this one showing up, but I think you'll get it all back once this is in hand. I don't have the original but judging from seeing it in person and from comparison pics and reviews, I'd say that this is leaps better than the old one. And of course the NECA is a cool collectible but not even in the same category as this. Those other ones are ED's but this is THE ED

I think I'm gonna sell the NECA ED209.
It just looks totally crappy compared to the HT ED and the movie.

Just watching it on the new BluRay and IT'S SO GOOD!
The new one dorsn't even come close.

HT ED209 looks pretty movie accurate besides from missing decals and the two missing screws on the front of the "chin".
If it just had Jon Davisons voice....
