Yeah just out of pure fear i hope they dont use rubber and instead use plastic or resin.
Honestly though the dome on the new one if it is rubber looks very thin, much like
the dx batman's and those are pretty good rubber quality.
I had the '89 Batman, but had to sell for a financial emergency. I know the rubber is good, but consider this:
If Batman takes a tumble off the shelf, he only weighs about 1 pound and the rubber suit is probably uneffected by the fall.
On the other hand, if ED-209 falls off the shelf, or even just rolls forward, the dome would very likely bear the brunt of the impact,
and ED probably weighs 5+ pounds. Even a small tear or abrasion in the rubber would suck.
Solid plastic is the way to go. If the black paint gets scratched, it's very easy to touch-up.

I didnt say i wanted it rubber just that i think ht has better materials now for rubber stuff.
I would love it to be plastic, its cheaper than rubber and would look more accurate.
Like im trying to say though it could be like that plastic-rubber stuff the dx12 has,
its like soft plastic and very durable.

Here's the link to email Hot Toys through their website form:

Tell them you want the dome to be plastic, not rubber!
Remember the $410 price tag... and please re-quote this post from time to time,
so it will be seen by many who have already pre-ordered and by those who will.
Maybe the photo below will inspire you all to action...

Here we see the super-continent of Pangaea beginning to break up during the early Jurassic period...

Geez that's my ED209 you're talking about. Since then I get rid of the rubber crap and repleaced by a custom dome:

One of the ones on Ebay? I was tracking those for a long time hoping a dome-deteriorated ED would show up cheap. Looks 1,000 times better!

No, I bought it when it came out from HT. agree with you, this new dome is so much better.:yess:

Rush to po my Ed from big bad toy, thanks for the info :hi5:

Ah, to hell with it. Ordered.

I can't have Robocop sat in his chair without Ed taking pot shots at him across the room, can I?

Just out of curiosity how are you guys justifying blindly committing to $410 when dome deterioration was such a possibility on the first release? Are you all just assuming that HT is using a new rubber that won't do that? I'd love to have ED on my shelf but am really apprehensive about rolling the dice for that amount of money.

I am willing to spend $410 for the many physical improvements and added accurate details, and I like the sound feature with this.
I and others have emailed HT requesting that the dome on the new version be made of rigid plastic. If they ignore that request, I'll just make a silicone mold from the dome and cast new ones in solid black resin- and sell them to interested parties, probably for about $20.
After changing out my own dome, I will create a photo-illustrated guide to help others make the switch, if it's not a totally straight-forward process. No risk for me.
Besides- I have a feeling the new dome WILL be plastic. Not just because we sent a few concerned emails, but because this improved version looks too beautiful to be spoiled by the same issue twice in a row; surely they must be aware of the problem the rubber caused before- but mostly, because PLASTIC IS CHEAPER THAN RUBBER.
Hot Toys, please read that again: PLASTIC IS CHEAPER THAN RUBBER. CHEAPER. CHEAPER. PLASTIC = MORE PROFITS FOR YOU. PLASTIC. CHEAPER. PROFITS. MORE.

Like i keep saying it will probably be a soft plastic much like the stuff they use for 1/6 figure hands.
I just can't see HT being stupid enough to make that mistake for something this expensive.
They went and re-designed ed this much surely they designed a new dome as well.
