Good to hear. I did one coat a month ago, going to do another this weekend. I really do love this figure and think it was worth the price, if it doesn't break down. Hahaha

My advice to you is DO NOT RE-APPLY. One coat is all you will need. If you do re-apply, you will need to strip the old coat off first. If you apply successive coats you will eliminate all the dome details. I am the one who first tried out the mod podge on my Ed months ago. He is still holding strong. No deterioration, no new cracking.

For the Honda grease users, how often do you need to apply it? I don't want to keep having to buy a new tube every month or so so I'm hoping 1 application every 3-4 months is sufficient? Or longer? :huh

Is it better than Mod Podge? I just ordered one but still have the option to cancel.
That's about the time frame in between my applications. The tube I bought has a ton of silicon and you don't use much so it should last a very long time

Cool, thanks. I got the one on amazon.com which you or someone here linked me to. I just read that the mod podge guy above only needed one application so I'm wondering now if that solution is a good one or not. One time app that lasts for a long time could be good?

I'm not really sure, I jumped on the silicon before the podge was suggested.
I couldn't tell you the pros and cons of each, sorry

So just one coat hmmm interesting. I did put alot the first time. Thanks for the advice.

Okay,
so i've got my ED since the 5th of may,
noticed the first cracks the 12th of july.
Yesterday I finally pulled the trigger with applying modge podge as a (temp) solution.

Pretty happy with the result for the time being, until someone offers replacment domes.

After:

He is finally showable again ;o)

Truth is in the pudding! that might be the solution right there, but everyone is just waiting to see how the silicone and podge last, right? Someone did mention doing replacements on the deterioration thread but he needs a dome someone is willing to lend him.

Wow that's amazing. Hard to even tell there's anything wrong w it!!

That fix with the modge podge looks great... I'm seriously considering getting this now, I was holding off because of the dome deterioration. But now, I might bite. I'll still wait for the Black Friday sales in the hope of a code though...

Thx for the comments guys!

But remember these pics are only after 2 coatings (with a drytime of 2 hours between them) of Modge Podge after just 1 day,
I don't wanna get anyone's hope up that this is a permanent fix, just so you all know.

How I used it:
I dropped some Modge Podge in a bowl, used the soft side of a washing sponge to let it soak up and lubed the dome up.
I used the glossy variant of Modge Podge by the way, if anyone wanted to know.

But for now it looks great, so I can enjoy the figure much more again!

I'm sure it's been posted countless times, but could someone link to the exact "Modge Podge" product that everyone's using? I want to have it bookmarked in the event my ED-209 starts to show signs of cracking.

I used the mod podge matte. There is a glossy as seen above. All depends on the finish you want.
And I was thinking of doing a second coat. Should I?

Well I'd prefer a solution that doesn't look or feel any differently than an untreated figure; any suggestions for that?

So is mod podge the one to go for? I have 2 days to cancel my order of the Honda silicone grease. From what I've read, it seems like people have been applying the Honda more frequently than the mod podge, and the mod podge is also cheaper and is in larger quantity than the Honda.
