And I was thinking of doing a second coat. Should I?
If it will help you sleep at night then you should apply a second coat. Actually I currently have two coats on mine. One gloss and the second matte. Be warned though that too many applications will obscure the dome texture.
Well I'd prefer a solution that doesn't look or feel any differently than an untreated figure; any suggestions for that?
This is a subjective question as only you can determine if it feels too different for your tastes. I will tell you that mine has a much less tacky feel to it and I like that. It is also easier to dust because of this.
So is mod podge the one to go for? I have 2 days to cancel my order of the Honda silicone grease. From what I've read, it seems like people have been applying the Honda more frequently than the mod podge, and the mod podge is also cheaper and is in larger quantity than the Honda.
There are two schools of thought to these options:
1- Honda grease is best served to those who want to perform a preventive measure in mitigating the dome cracks. If the dome already shows cracks than I think this option would be too little, too late. It requires continuos applications but the results seem to work thus far.

2- Mod Podge is a sealer, once applied and dried, it requires no more applications as it has effetively created a barrier between the dome and the outside world. Some have made it a point, and I agree that sealing the outside does not mean that the inside is sealed and therefore the cracking could come from the inside out. Only time will tell. I do know that applying the Mod Podge made a world of difference on my ED and he still looks good many months later. How long this will last is anyones guess.
IMO, the best case solution for all of us is a replacement dome from someone who is willing to make them.

These crack from the rubber drying out. Lubricant if it hasn't cracked is the route to go. Keeping it from drying out "should" prevent deterioration. In these cases the Honda silicone would b the best option I believe. The modge podge route is sealing it in. If it's not cracked keeping it lubed would seem best route vs. trying to seal it.

Would a combination of the mod podge AND the Honda grease work? I have the Honda grease still on order with 1 day left to cancel, the only thing I'm worried about is it costs $20 a tube, it's only about 3 ounces or so, and if there's a requirement to apply very often, then it could be costly to have to keep buying it over and over again.

im don't anticipate having to apply the grease much more than I have, it's pretty thick stuff and I just don't see it evaporating or dissolving

It's not like it has to be applied everytime you look at it. The stuff spreads generously and doesn't dissolve or dissipate. Again, it's made for cars...you know, the type you drive daily and leave outside exposed to the elements??? If you don't plan to do the same to your ED, then it should be good.

The products are incompatible. If you use the silicon first, you'll have to thoroughly clean all the silicon off if you're going to apply modge podge.

If you have the dome coated in modge podge, a coating in silicon would be pointless.

Im all for that amazing deal but my figure literally crumbling into dust is to big a deal breaker for me. Ill use that $258 elsewhere. Shame.

Fantastic deal for my FOTY, congrats on who ever got it for that epic price

which mod podge should I buy , matte /satin/ gloss ?
I just got my ed 209 today, in case mod podge doesn't work, I may build a dome with 3d software then 3dprint it out.
