I had to go back and see where I implied that Batman Returns was too heterosexual. :lol

You said lots of screaming and nastiness. That?s the Penguin 100%. :lol

He is probably the horniest (and loneliest) comic book character ever put on screen. All he wanted was some *uss*, and Batman killed him. I see these types every day unfortunately.

That reminds me. Why are they doing Forever merchandise before making Catwoman and Penguin again anyway? I want a 1/6 Catwoman and Penguin that I can?t pose dynamically with material that will flake and detoriate quickly.

And he predated the internet crowd.

I still hope since Star Wars is gone for a while and Marvel is rebooting itself that maybe HT will start to revisit those old dying franchises one more time. Imagine the 2020 version of Terminator, Alien, Predator... and maybe even make room for Catwoman and Penguin now that they can charge $267 for DeVito.

A DX DeVito Penguin with two figures -- Mayor and Sewer version -- would be a dream come true. Never happen, but a dream come true. Much better than HT Riddler and Two-fuchsia-Face.

No Star Wars films *or* Iron Man for the foreseeable future so it'll be interesting to see what HT does the next couple of years.

They'll simply mine the four previous decades of Star Wars films for more stormtrooper variations and previous decade's worth of MCU fims for even more unasked for Iron Man suits.

That would be my guess too. Every single Iron Man suit will be made again in diecast. And in 1:4 and 1:12.

Sure they'll put out a few non-SW/Marvel figures here and there but I expect they'll continue to be low priority and people will be made to feel that with constant delays and one & done 'lines'.

It's like they want and expect Iron Man-level of sales for everything and when it's immediately apparent they're not gonna get that they just give up on it. They won't even try putting out that Agent Smith to see if a logical companion figure can boost the sales, which it might have done.

:lol That's true.

But Schumacher really pushed the envelope. I watched, trying to like it like I did in '95... but I just couldn't. I've definitely outgrown the Schumacher Batman.

That said, I watched the last 15 mins of Batman Returns right before it and... well, it wasn't much better. Lots of screaming and nastiness rather that stupid giggling and exaggerated voices. But the costumes and designs were so much better with Burton. Schumacher definitely has color and manic-energy on his side.

These Bat-flicks really are of their time.

I felt that Batman '89 was quite dated when I finally went back and re-watched it some years ago; I've seen clips of it from time to time since but can't really watch it all the way through -- my biggest problem is actually Jack Nicholson's Joker (uneven) and the Prince musical number in the museum (cringe-worthy).

So I*did* try to watch Forever the other day and couldn't get past the first fight scene with Two-Face. Maybe because I just re-watched this last year (I can't actually remember if I ever saw the whole thing back in the day) ... but yeah, these date badly.

Batman Forever is a different beast for me. I find it uneven and hectic at times, but it's so weird and genuinely dark -- plus it has a connection to a weird and dark time of my life, much like The Crow -- I just forgive it and enjoy the ride.

Film is personal sometimes. That being said, there are plenty of things I've outgrown but Batman Returns seems to hit that nostalgic bittersweet spot.

For Iron Man, they really only have the DC Mark 1 to do, they've released in the last 2 years every classic Mark 2-7. So I really do think and hope they'll dive into other lines.

Yes, you must have missed my earlier post where I let Batman '89 have it too -- especially Joker. Like I said, he looks great, but too many nonsensical lines and fart sounds and mugging.

That Prince music is definitely the worst.

Christmas '89 I was first at my local Blockbuster to snatch my midnight release of Batman on VHS. It was the very first movie that they pushed with an incredible early video release (for the time). Got a picture with Batman to prove it. But how things change... today I don't own any of the Bat-films on bluray and none of them are on my dvr for quick access, so that tells you something.

I own digital copies of the Burton and Schumacher films, but Returns is the only one I still go back and watch from time to time. Usually at Christmas.

Interesting question which Batman flick is the most re-watchable: Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever or Batman & Robin...?

Its a tough choice for me between Batman and Batman Returns... I'm not sure which has the least cringe-worthy moments. They're likely tied.

That said, at least Batman Returns has Catwoman -- probably the only purfect villain in the 89-95 run. I don't remember anything cringe-worthy about any of her scenes.

Batman Returns is the best of them, easily. The special effects, the cinematography, the designs, the music, it’s great. I have no problems with it.

Ironically, when I was younger I didn’t like it. I thought Batman and Batman Forever were better. Now it’s my second favorite Batman film behind The Dark Knight.

The ending of batman returns is stupid. The penguin in his duck car is pretty silly and anti climatic. The rest of the movie is awesome though.

I don't understand how Penguin died. He fell through a window into water. Water is like his home. How did he die from it?

I don't understand how Penguin died... and I don't understand how Catwoman lived.

Yea that is weird but catwoman had 9 lives and didn?t waste her last one. Her powers were a bit supernatural. She was essentially a zombie in returns

Batman Returns hands down, the sequence when the batmobile changes into the batmissile, any time penguin is on screen, then catwoman, it was the first batman i remember seeing and in 1989 i remember going into the theater to see it but didn?t remember much of the movie.

plus out of all the toys lines by kenner it still holds up pretty high with the most iconic sets from the film, even the merchandise cups!

That Batmissile or Batpod conversion is silly. Destroy his whole car so it can fit through a narrow space? Plus, how that hell can it turn? They have that one shot of it turning and it looks ridiculous -- just turns like a toy without the wheels doing anything.

I get liking something as a kid, but you know when you grow older you really should be more discerning.

I'm going to try watching Batman and Robin just for kicks tonight. Wish me luck.
