...
I fully understand people in the boards have influence on what these companies do and make. They want our opinions. They ask in public for it. I just chose to do it more civilly. Yelling and calling people names just isnt my thing...Not accusing you of that, just my overall impression of a lot of people since I been a member.
...
LoL:lol Dude, feel free to complain. If you wind up influencing things, more power to you. Just wish i saw more people talk more civilly in here. Thats why I don't post much. Everything turns into a fight and then people start insulting each other.
I feel the same way. A lot of members feel the need to make personal remarks when giving your opinion on a toy. That is why I don't post so much either.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

I don't care about the likenesses like others do, i care more about the movie & characters they represent. For example, I have the 2005 Takara Batman in my collection. Still love it to this day as it was my first 1/6 figure. Its a subpar figure now, but I still like it.

I understand peoples passion for these toys, i know, people love them. I love them. they are a lot of fun to collect. But i feel like people get so stressed out about them. idk, i just cant act like that about these toys. Love these toys, but no, this isnt civil rights LoL:lol

I agree with you that when things start falling apart and words like fanboy, apologist, ***sucker are thrown around, it diminishes any kind of mature conversation and turns off a lot of people that just want to discuss things related to their interests. I've been there before, the moment things get out of hand, I go to another board.

But so far, I feel this hasn't happened. In fact, I've mentioned Before that this is the first time many are this united...you being a member here, I'm sure you noticed this as well. And if we can take this consensus and somehow forward it to HT, I don't know if anything will happen, but in the off chance that they're willingness to appease fans can go beyond that of adjusting head sculpts, what harm can come of it. No one gets hurt and we all win. HT still makes bank and the fans will appreciate them even more. I mean just because one company is being a-holes doesn't mean another should follow suit.

I'm not gonna lie, I want this set, but I refuse to buy it at this price point. I urge others to do the same.

You may have not participated in complaining to HT about likeness, but because of those that have, the fact of the matter is, you benefit from it, it's the damn truth that NO ONE can deny.

Just a side note, I too have Takaras batman. In fact I had 3 (gave one away to my cousin). I too still love it despite advancements HT have made. It was a quality product for its time and easily outshone both medicom and HTs offering during its release.

You may laugh at the civil rights comparison I made, but it makes it no less true. The quiet ones never get anything done, thats fact.

of course you have those that abuse that right...but thats another topic for another time.

look, im well aware There are other things to worry about in this world...but this is why we have hobbies. We play games, watch movies, buy action figures. It's an escape from reality because with the way things are now, reality sucks.

We collectors are passionate about these things, and once again, if our voices can make change for the better, why not? As long as its civil, I'm all for it.

i don't understand.Hot toys made the hall of armour dio and peeps still complain.peeps will complain if they dont make it.the batfans will complain if they dont get their batcave armoury dio.
If people cannot afford these then hold off until you can get them cheaper.
saying a company is asinine or ripping us off is laughable.
Hot toys is a business-they are out to make $$$.use your wallet to talk.
God-fuel goes up in price but what can you do?comics in Oz used to be 2.99 and are now 6.00 cause the Ozzie dollar was weak back in the day.now it is 1:1 to the US and still prices are the same.
Nothing ever goes down in price...

Nah, companies rip people off all the time and they should called out on it otherwise the cost of living would easily surpass the average income. The reason fuel goes up in price is because it's one of the most necessary needs of our civilization with no replacement in sight, so they can pretty much charge whatever they want for it... that doesn't mean they should.

Mind you, HT is on a completely different scale here but they same still applies. It's a matter of value for your money. Just the other day I saw this 55" Samsung LED Smart TV for $800 bucks. To say that or a 11 Night Cruise for $800 is in the same level price of 7 pieces of plastic is pretty idiotic.

I think they reason people are upset this time around is because they feel they are being taken for a ride. They want to purchase these items but they feel the price is unfair (which it most likely is) and it's being jacked up just because it can be. You're Australian, you must know better than anyone else here how infuriating this can be:

I think these things look great and I would like to purchase them but I just can't bring myself to justify using my money or even my SSC points on this.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

The worst part is hot toys are producing these so cheap, ill bet it's costing them less than $10 bucks per unit. People in china work these factors for $200 month

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Wouldn't the price of oil influence the price of plastics production? I'm not saying that's the case here though.

The way I see it, people want them but can't afford them, myself included. They lived without them before, they can live without them now.

HT will find this out if they don't sell as many as they'd hoped.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Well I don't have any issues with money and I can certainly afford them, but I can't justify the price of them at all, or to buy them because I can.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Whether you can afford them or not, the price is still the reason you aren't getting them. Some people are complaining as if HT owes them an affordable HoA, when they can charge whatever they like.

It's their business, if they don't want to lower the price and not shift as many units that's up to them.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

HT isn't stupid as a company. They've chosen not to make figures in the past where the cost they'd have to charge would be more than they thought the market could bear. I'm sure the profit margin on these is the same as it is for a figure and they are charging just as much as they need to make it worthwhile to release the product.

By all means if you think it's not worth it, don't buy it. If they sell so few that they don't break even on it, then they will have learned that there are some things they shouldn't make.

That is just it, buy something that you feel is wroth it. Not that you have to have it. Econ 101, The very 1st question the teacher gave me I still remember today.

Your driving its 2am, you have not stop for 6 hours. You need gas and your hungry. You see this place that has gas for $5 more a gal (at the time Gas was only $2 or so a Gal). But you need it, and your hungry. You go inside and see that they have hot dogs on the warming wheel $4.00 each. Again it's 2am, your out of gas and your hungry.

One last thing. Its the only place you seen open for 2 hours.

What do you do?

I know these cost money to make. The models can cost up to $100,000 each and your looking at many of them. You also have to add in the cost of the LCD, Wiring. Being that there is power going to it. A Eng. Top it off not to many people are really going to buy them even at $75 each.

Only Dave knows how many users are on this board that really buy. Or he has some kind of idea. But we are a low number to the over all picture. Most of us can or have made a case to hold our stuff and we buy more then one or two items a year. In most case we buy that every month. Hot Toys knows this, they are a business. They have to make money.

Oh don't forget to add in the costs you don't see. Everything you see on screen is own by someone.

:exactly: No business own you anything. If they make it and sell it. Why should they not get more for it. Hot Toys is not going to get hurt by these not selling.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

If I had the money then I would get them, but I dont, so I wont, So i'll just have to live with it.

Not in the long run, no. But they still have to answer to their investors as well as the license owners, don't they?

Whatever the outcome of this new line, which might prove to be shortlived, it will still remain as data to be discussed and will, to a degree, affect their marketing strategy (read: pricing) in the future... I think.

That is how I see it but only they came a month to late. I have everything I need to make the Iron Man case.

Investors yes, License owners depends on the license. If you make your customers mad at you they will buy else where. Remember they are not the only one who makes these.

I understand, but the license owners do care about their licenses and therefore any product that might give the license a bad name would be seen as a bad publicity. HT might even stand to lose the license if they keep doing stuff like these Hall of Armor collectibles which we can tell from the poll done on the other thread that it won't sell very well due to the asking price. Unless of course the licensors had a say in this. Which would make all the difference in the world.

But I stood my ground on what I said yesterday: I blame Disney because we know that their business MO is best described as money-grabbing and this collectibles is a reflection of that.
