I keep telling myself I'm probly gonna get just 1,but deep down I know as soon as I get 1 in hand I'm not gonna be able to resist piccking up the rest.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

And yet, throw a gun, a trenchcoat, and another $60 in and you have yourselves a standard Hot Toys release nowadays. It's an absurd hobby to begin with. :dunno

That's why I love it! :thud:

Oh I agree. Throw in a special edition Pepper and I would have already handed over my money. Funny how what works...

This is one of those pieces typically I want but for a change this I need least. The price could be lower but honestly I did not see this to be cheaper than $80 a piece and more likely $100 when they first announced it and that was a year+ ago? though was hoping for a slight discount for multiple piece. The Asian price is more in line of what I was expecting and man they always get the savings so not an option. If you expect these to be significantly cheaper eg 60 or even a lot less sorry but your toes I must have stepped on cause what hobby have you been in? Raw Material cost in these have always been insignificant to the equation of cost. Looking at the price set I am sure Ht is not expecting huge demand either to help recoup tooling cost. The only way I see this to make both sides happy but HT is not know to do is to sell it as unpainted model kit for $40 in large volume.
Btw love the holographic display as that was something I was thinking of years back for terminator salvation but too bad I doubt I will own any of these cause min of 4 or its not a "hall"

I was actually thinking they'd be around $80. If I could get 7 for $600 then I'd be cool with that. If anyone wants to give me the link... :)

But I'm assuming people saying they are getting it for that are in another country?

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Whoever stated that we're but a small community...where does all the nitpicking come from? When a head sculpt is so disliked, where did the complaints stem from? Well, if it ain't here, then it has to be from other places such as toysdaily, if not, someplace else. Wherever they're from, those complaints were heard and adjustments to sculpts were done so the fans can be happy with their purchase.

Now here we are, both sides of the world are complaining about the prices for glorified display stands...you're telling me that HT aren't hearing about it? Dude, our reactions are DEFINITELT being heard by the greedy *******s over at HT. whether they change it or not of course it's up to them (most likely not) but they hear us.

I hope this tanks. Hard.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Just curious, do you own any HTs? If so, why?

Oh course I own HT figs. Because I appreciate the craftsmanship. They make things I want to buy. Are they getting more and more expensive? Yes. Because of that I can only limit my purchases to things I REALLY want I.e batman. I'm a huge fan of theirs and have supported them for many many years. But just because I love their products doesn't mean I won't call them out when they make asinine decisions.

Collecting community isn't THAT small. It's just that a lot of it is also foreign too. There's at least 3-4 other foreign sites I can think of that are totally dedicated to a good amount of 1/6 and figure collecting.

But yeah, this 1/6 scale hall needs to tank. The prices will keep going up.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

It looks like this Hall of Armor dio might already be outdated. Check out the packaging on these toys:

https://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=71932

We know its already dated. The armory gets blown up along with the rest of the house in the trailer. Will he rebuild it the same? Probably not. Basically you get an Iron Man 2 - Beginning of Iron Man 3 display, nothing beyond that.

This is exactly my point. I feel like for once, the majority of collectors are complaining about this. If there is a chance to make a change for the better, this is it.

I understand those taking a more passive stance. Some feel like they don't want to participate in this ****storm because to them, it's just a bunch of nerds whining...which is weird because they themselves are on this forum...which makes them nerds as well.

What I do like is that we're at least having a constructive conversation on this.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

So as someone pointed out there are custom ones that have been made in the past that sold for $105 each that dont have the the craftsmanship of Hot Toys, so for $25 more to get the official HTs version is that really that bad or that far off?

Hot Toys is a business, they need to make profits to keep going like every business. And none of us work for them. No one here knows what these cost to produce nor no one knows what they make as profits. Not to mention Sideshow is the distributor, so they need to be paid too. And the licensing needs to be paid. Theres just so much more that go into making these things than most people realize.

But whatever...keep complaining...thats what these boards are for i guess....

By your logic, EVERYTHING in this world should be unreasonably expensive because of x and y. I know they're a business, and they've become greedy. And you're right, we don't know the costs, but anyone doing any research on the costs of manufacturing these things in china can tell you this...we're being overcharged. Licensing fees, once again, no on knows, but they can still make profit despite licensing fees because of how much it takes to actually manufacture it...which is: very little.

I rarely buy things fan made, so I can't comment on that.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Let me ask you morph, you're telling me that you've never been upset over a decision made by anything or anyone? You've never complained about anything?

I want you to be completely honest here.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

I will; customs tend to be expensive because they are labor intensive and usually made an individual working alone. He/she does the design, the production, and handles the shipping and anyone buying from them pays for that because it is a major undertaking and most people doing it also have day jobs. You cannot compare the pricing for a piece made by a company that has the work done in chinese sweatshops to that of a piece made by someone in their home workshop. OF course the custom is expensive. HT is engaging in major price-gouging, thank goodness it's with a piece that I don't consider all that exciting (this time), but it does have me rethinking my overall collecting habits. Think this will be the year I wind it down to grail pieces only, as well as custom projects.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

If I don't like the price of something, then I just don't buy it. Theres plenty of things in this hobby I think is expensive, I just don't freak out about it and call the companies greedy or asinine because I respect them as artists and as people, i love their toys. Yah its expensive. This 1/6 hobby is expensive. it always has been. When i was buying figures for $125-150 that was expensive. Now most are well over $200, and some are over $300. I love the toys, so i buy them. If i cannot afford it, so be it...Im just not one to freak out about it. If the day comes and I cannot afford anymore, I'll live. But some people act like its the end of the world and they want to burn the offices of HTs down. I just have no desire to act like that...

And most stuff is made in China these days and prices are way above what it takes to manufacture. Just the way the world is.

Do you have any pieces in your collection that was once hated on because of the likeness? But once people "freaked out" about it, HT made adjustments and the haters are satisfied.

Let me break it down for you. You owe the ones that complain about the items in your very room. Why? If it weren't for them, you'd have an halfa$$ed product that you paid with your hard earned cash.

What ethnicity are you? Gender preference? You don't have to answer me btw, but I'm sure you get where I a going with this. If peolple didn't band together for a good cause and "freak out"...as you put it, then things would never change. Am I going off the deep end by comparing civil rights to toys? No I don't think so. Because I'm trying to explain to you why we do what we do.

There's a difference between freaking out and giving constructive criticism. Sure, I threw around the words asinine and other obscenities, but it's because I'm frustrated that a company I held dear to my heart is becoming like this.

And yes, if the item is too expensive, I won't buy it. But on the other hand, certain items need to be reasonably priced. Items that have delicate features such as head sculpt, paint work, moving joints, accessories, clothing, I can see where the money went. It could be a little cheaper, but I digress....

Then you have an effin box that lights up, with stickers...and you're charging over $100....WTFLYINGF???

No offense okay man? I don't intend to make enemies here. But if my complaining, along with others, ever made change, who benefits? ALL OF US. So please don't throw the "freaks" under the bus.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Passive attitudes like this are why the world is the way it is, and that isn't a great thing...

Agreed. It's upsetting when passive attitudes reap the benefits from those that actually get their hands dirty and then act as if they too had a part in the change.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

To me the way to change things would be not to buy. And like I said, if something is too expensive for me, i dont buy it. I dont resort to fighting and name calling because I feel it doesnt go anywhere. The complainers have been yelling for years about the costs of these toys, have prices gone down, no because they keep buying them (and some spend even more on custom pieces or buy them off eBay for far more than retail). If you want to change things, stop buying and the companies will feel it. But if your going to yell about the price of something, and then still buy it, what does that do? Im not talking about you guys specifically, just in general.

Yes and that's what we're doing. I, along with a bunch of others are not buying. But you know what? There are some that ARE willing to buy it. No one is forcing one to do something they don't want to. I'm not forcing anyone to not buy this. It's their decision. But I want to express how I feel about it, have an open discussion and hopefully make some realize that if you buy this, this will happen.

You need to realize that sometimes, actions don't speak louder than words. There will be times when a voice needs to be heard, and hopefully there will be a great crowd behind this voice.

One HT figure used to cost this much... this **** is stupid. Going to easily find these for discounted prices soon.
