I am pretty zen about the shipping date on account of how lucky I feel just to be getting this figure at all. Spare a thought for all the poor saps who will only discover this hobby once this guy is no longer available for MSRP.

Iron Man fans, if you could have only one Hot Toys Iron Man out of all that they've made or have shown prototypes for (not including Mech Test Tony, Black Widow, War machine or Whiplash) what figure would it be? What, for you, is the figure thats most evocative of the Iron Man image you treasure?

With Spidey coming up I'm kinda sorta giving some thought to getting a single definitive Iron Man (this Mark IV being a front runner in my mind). I have the original Mark III but it doesn't look as cool as this one and it has the colour fading issue. If I were to buy a new Iron Man I'd probably put the old one in that signature landing pose so the faded midsection wouldn't be too visible.

Mark III or IV, since they are closest to the iconic Iron Man comic version from the 70s and 80s. IV seems to have better proportions, so probably that one.

Mark I for me personally.

Mike has a point in that Mark I is probably my favorite and it may not even be topped by Mark IV when I get it, but if you want the red and gold iron man look that everyone knows him for, Mark IV would be the way to go.

I know everyone raves about Mark I. I do sorta regret passing on him when I had a chance to get him from Hastings. But I never cared much for the first appearance Iron Man. So no matter how great a figure it is, that's not the definitive Iron Man to me.

I think if you are going to have just one to display with a HT Marvel collection, it makes more sense to buy Mark IV or Mark VI, whichever you prefer. However, if you have a whole collection of the armors, Mark I is quite astounding. I got him from Hastings as you had mentioned and I'm very happy with him.

Whiplash all the way...oh wait

No but seriously. The mark VI has a lot more features, what with the battle damage and extra weapons, but this figure (mark IV) is outstanding. I say close your eyes and picture Iron Man. Which one do you picture first.

I've just franchised WORLD PEACE!

I think HT Mk4 is the most amazing Ironman figure on earth at this moment!

Thanks very much for the perspectives guys. I have been keeping an eye on this one moreso than the VI, I too prefer the circular ARC - and Jengos pics there have just reinforced my feelings that this is the one...if I buy another Iron Man. That Stark head is a vast improvement on the one that came with the first Mark III and it looks excellent on the Iron Man body as I'm sure it would on a business suit Tony Stark.

Even with the awesome mark IV out, my favorite is still the mark 1.

but the definitive iron man, IMO, is the mark IV.

Thanks guys!! sorry bout the phone camera, let see if I can make some more photos later with better camera :D

Yes this is the best Tony Stark Head Sculpt at this moment, btw its kinda hard to take off the neck actually.

@verbal : I got it from ebay, maybe you could find that chair at ebay :D

Cheers!

Quick question for anyone that owns the Mark IV and Mark III BD. Does the Mark IV neck post fit on the Mark III BD? It looks shorter and may look better than the Mark III BD neck. Sorry if this was posted already. Any advice would be great. Thanks guys.
