Can't get enough of the new sculpt:

It's a great sculpt and, in my opinion, better than the Mech Test version.

Are you referring to a Mark IV or Mark VI?

Mk IV, I don't even remember seeing the Mk VI on their site, and this is the Mk IV thread, right? Trust me, I always look at the Mk # twice. With all these different versions it would be easy to make a mistake.
Also, got my shipping notice from gohastings for the Mk IV today.

Gotcha & congrats! I'm waiting on delivery :impatient:

Welp, my Mark IV arrived today and I must admit I'm a little bummed b/c Gohastings let me down here as I'll explain. I also need some advice but I'll save that for the end.

The first red flag was when I opened the box and saw how poorly they packaged it. 1 piece of brown paper really stuffed on the left and bottom of the box isn't going to protect all the other sides of the box from bouncing around and possible damage, it appeared like they just didn't care.

The exterior of the Mark IV box itself looked ok, so momentarily I felt relieved.

But after removing the outer sleeve I noticed 3 things: (1) the box seal had been broken, the interior box was damaged on the bottom right b/c whoever put it back on did so incorrectly & (3) the arc reactor light in Tony's chest was on (hard to tell from pic) :monkey4 So basically this was not "NEW" as they advertised and the battery has been on 24/7 since they shipped it a week ago.

Now I'm a little peeved b/c I don't appreciate being sold something advertised as "New" when I could have bought it used much cheaper, so I move on to inspect the parts to make sure everything is included and nothing is damaged.

Well, here's the worst surprise, the flap of the bottom right forearm is broken and the piece is laying there. All the pieces were there and nothing else was damaged, so I put him together and on display as pictured below where you can see the missing flap.

On their Amazon page they have this under 'Product Description': "We carefully inspect every one of these figures before sending out to make sure nothing is damaged. Due to the collectibility and fragility of this item in particular, we cannot accept returns on it once it has been opened. Thank you. "

I wasn't aware that the inspection was actually opening the item, leaving it's lights on for a week while you ship it, and then sell it on your web page advertised as "NEW". Lesson learned.

I haven't left feedback or anything yet, I wanted to know what you guys/gals would do if you were in my shoes? I mean, odds are nobody will notice it but it irks me a bit. If there's a specific glue I can buy to fix the air flap then I'd gladly do that.

Thanks for reading & any advice is gladly appreciated.

They certainly "played" with it as the Tony HS is not on by default, nor are the glasses. The helmet is suppose to be on the body by default.
From I remember many have complained about GoHasting selling displayed units as new but considering that these go for more than retail nowadays you are likely to have paid the same for used, if not more

Wow, thanks for the info b/c I did not know that about the glass or the Stark head. :goodpost:

Do you know of any specific glue I can use on that air flap piece?

I use this on all my plastic breakages, it's basically a superglue but has an activator pen for better binding of the glued surfaces. As with all superglues, pay special care to avoid it coming into contact with any exposed surfaces, as it'll make a mess of it.

Wow, bro. I don't know what to say other than, I'm not surprised.

Here is a post I made just the other day regarding gohastings' practices:
Regarding gohastings....I've even read that they will take a figure that they've got displayed at one of their stores, stuff it back into it's box, and sell it as a 'New' item...that is, they will still price it the same as if it was an unopened item.

I'm sorry, but that's not right at all.

One of the problems I have with gohastings is when they open an item and still sell it as a "New" item.
That is shady for sure.

:lecture Yes.

Whenever you add something into your cart, there should be a pop-up window alerting the buyer to, "Purchase at your own risk!!"

Saw the pics of gohastings packaging and just brought back memories...I have had bad experience with them as well - received a damaged T700 a while back but when I contacted their customer service they did send me a UPS label to send it back to them (was within 30 days). They gave me a full refund once they received the item - however they wouldn't exchange the item even though they had it in-stock on their site.

Hope you're able to get it sorted out. They still have the Iron Man in stock - wouldn't hurt to try if they'll do a replacement for you.

Oh, oh my, oh that statement. Haha seriously oh my god.

So that's how it works is it? they cut the seals, play with peoples purchases first, call it cross examination then say "sorry we don't accept returns" hilarious.

Were they blind and couldn't see the clear window on the box or what? A shop does not need to unbox it to see if things are intact. Worst of all take the figure out, swap heads and fit the shades to it or leave the light on.

A right bunch of bright sparks at that shop.

Don't feel bad about the missile flaps. One of mine was broken and it was sealed. The plastic missile arm became dislodged in the packaging that just happened to crunch one of the flaps during transit. It's an easy fix.

I'd give them a bad review. The battery chambers has clear plastic flaps you pull out so the batteries don't wear down during transit. The shop pulls them out to play with them. tsk tsk. Thats terrible.

Yep--Hastings is a complete gamble. Buyer beware.

Seriously, is this a second hand store? It's bordering on taking the piss.

"Certifiably tested new!"

"Shop with us, we'll play with your toys before you do!"

My advice is return it to Hastings and get your money back. You could gamble again with Hastings or try to order from somebody else. Hastings puts out display models in their stores so sometimes you end up with the one that was on display which leaves you with open packaging and broken figures. It's rare in my experience, but I've had it happen a couple of times.

Wow, Y4NK33 PL4N3T, that sucks beyond measure. What kind of store opens a collectible like this up for display? If I ever went into any store that did that, I think I'd curse the employees out, and then burn the place down just for spite (j/k arson isn't funny, kids :))
Doesn't bode well for me, I guess. However, I bought it directly from their website, and I got expedited shipping.
Everybody, keep your fingers crossed for me. It'll be appreciated.

Well I understand displaying the Piece to showcase it, I'd be more concerned if the employee knew what they were doing and appreciated the collecctible, I'd also expect a discount on the display piece, just my opinion

My LCS opens these and other collectibles up and puts it in a display case. Their rationale is that you either buy it or you don't. They feel as though it will give a possible customer a better idea of what they are purchasing for the money (instead of looking at a box). It works though. They actually sell many pieces faster from that display.

My thing is who gives a ____ as long as the piece is mint. I feel bad for Y4NK33 though. It should've been put back the right right way with no breakage. They knew it was broke and shipped it out anyways. Hastings was in the wrong for that alone.
