What could hot toys possibly do to the mark 6 that would make me buy the mark 4? The mark 4 is so close to the design of the 6 and it comes with a removable chest which can later be replaced with a chest piece from the 6.

How about a Stark/mark 6 combo that allows us to completely remove the armor? I think hot toys' design of the ironman makes it so close to a possibility. The only problem they could have is at the ball joints at the hips and shoulder. It might appear bulky. But that would make me buy a mark 4 for its range of movements and it's slim design.

probably possible as a one off, but mass produced and the people that would have to assemble, paint, etc, not plausible, i dont think it would turn out either, proportions would be whacky, i love both mk 4 and 6 and the subtle differences are enough for me to buy both

Except the paintscheme would be wrong on the red and gold not to mention the absence of the steel accents. The busts will be a good indication and it looks like even the reds will be different but look at the paint schemes even on the back they are different.

The bicep area are different, neck area and even the reds as I mentioned before. I guarantee you that there will be people who don't by the Mark IV and then after the Mark IV is out and you see side by side comparisons rush back to try and get it.

:dunno :dunno :dunno

Umm, I know i'm going to get smacked in the mouth for this.....but why will they scramble to go and get the 4?

I don't see that huge a difference

The ordinary collector won't. In fact the standard collector just wants AN Iron Man so they won't care which. There are some though on these boards who have been all in with the Iron Man license who have written they are not getting the Mark IV because of the similarities, I guarantee you that some of those people will be scrambling back after the fact.

Mark IV is my favorite armor, but I also like Mark VI a lot, especially cause of what scenes from the movie it was in. They're different enough that I'd love to have both.

If it's true that they're having trouble with likeness approval, that sucks. Hopefully it gets worked out soon though, I was really looking forward to a Downey sculpt that goes with the diner scene.

You might be right and I might even be one of those people. :lol But only if my completist nature kicks in.
But the price point is high enough that i need to be selective about which armors to buy. I think this will be the question most collectors will be asking. Would different paint applications and small differences in the armor be worth paying 160.00 ?
I already know I am getting the mark 6 without seeing it. Because I know it will have everything that makes the mark 4 stand out from previous version. Namely: articulate fingers and versatile abdomen.

Plus it goes well with WM, Evil Armored Bots and Whiplash Mark 2.

All we'll need then is an Expo playset :lol

Go VI or go home empty handed.

why do people think if they add "or gtfo" to the end of their sentences/complaints that their problems will just go away? :dunno

I think it's funny when people make statements like that. This one I happen to agree with wholeheartedly. :)

The triangular chest appears just as often in the comics as the circle. Neither is "right".

I like the look of the VI. It looks (yeah I know it is) more powerful.

I bet the whole reason Hot Toys made the chest piece removable is so they could just do a quick mod/ paint swap for Mark 6. They basically future proofed the figure, since you never see him remove the chest plate on mark 4 in the movie.

Im hoping they add some improvements, like the arm laser, maybe battle damage chest

Yes you do,i have said this before but i will say it again.. if you look closely when his armor is taken off by the machines after he lands in the expo you will see the chestplate come off and it looks exactly how hot toys designed it.

But then why stop there?

HT should've made his armor 100% removable and have a tuxedo Stark underneath :lol
