I did not know that... Kind of weird, considering both Arnold and Linda Hamilton are in T1 as well.

Well T1 is produced less for collectibles because the license doesn't cover likenesses, T2, T3 and TS do.

:lecture:lecture:lecture With the exception of Star Wars (and I'm betting most, if not all the other Lucas films), it wasn't common practice back then to include likeness rights in the actors' contracts.

Seems like such a thing should apply retroactively, for lack of a better term. For instance, since tons of companies have gotten Arnold's likeness rights for their T2 products, likeness rights for T1 should go without saying (since it's the same person).

Yeah, T2 came out right around when things started to change. With Kenner's extensive figure line, marketing an R rated film to children, you could tell times were changing.

Doesn't matter, the terms of one contract can't be applied to another, each contract is independent. Likewise, if someone didn't include such conditions in Arnie's T3 contract, T3 products wouldn't be able to use his likeness just having the T3 license.

In cases where the film license doesn't cover it, companies can reach out to the celebrities independently, such as Hot Toys did with their Dutch figure, but that means extra work and costs because now the actor/actress and the license holders both need to approve of the portraits.

That's likely why HT's starting with T2. They've stated their not interested in T3, so start with the film where they can just make figures and deal with T1 later, or who knows, while they're putting out T2 they may be in progress on T1 stuff so they can keep turning out product as soon as T2 is up.

Well, the Kenner '79 Alien incident was over a decade back. In the end, as it always is with younger kids, they don't typically care to see what movie their toys come from. They just love 'em 'cause they look cool.
I remember when I was like 6 or 7 and we would pass the Dark Horse HQ, and they had these 1:1 statues of Alien and Predator displayed in the window facing the street. At the time, it was the coolest thing I ever saw, but I didn't overthink it. I always referred to 'em as "the monsters." Little did I know that in a few years, those bad boys would become a bit of an obsession :) .

T2 and T1 are not made by the same companies. There's a whole legal issue between them.

:lol:rotfl:lol Same person, different movie and in some cases different owner. It's not that easy... unless you're George Lucas. :p

I've actually just bought a black t-shirt from eBay in preperarion for this however the issue I've got is the fact that over time, the rubber body will stain with the black dye..is it worth it?

Do you have intention of having this figure shirtless at any point in display? If not, then if it stains it stains, the stain shouldn't bleed onto exposed parts, just the areas covered by the shirt, so you shouldn't even see it.

I wonder if spraying the clothing on the inside with 3M scotchguard will do the trick of preventing the paint rub off? It acts as a layer to protect carpet from absorbing any fluids so it should have the same effect the other way around as well?

Over time the rubber will still act as a sponge, so that won't work either. Plus who knows what issues that'll cause when the rubber body sweats.

I've heard that soaking clothing in cold water and vinegar will help set the dye. Never tried it myself though.

Is it that common a problem to worry about, I've seen reports of it, but I haven't found clothing to stain any of my muscle body figures.
