Yeah, same reason a lot of people seemed to really like that first Solo sculpt. I was OK with that first sculpt, too, so seems a lot of us are satisfied with representations of the characters rather than the actors, at the end of the day.

Howard, this has to stop. We know it's you.:lol

All my photographs I take serious setup to make the best out of these figures; however I'm no expert but I still can tell a good and bad figure is lol

A bad photo of a particular figure sometimes has nothing to do with the quality of the photo. And yes, a bad figure can be made to look good, and a good figure made to look bad - with even the most serious set-up, and unintentionally.

These are shown to illustrate a point, not as some point of reference to your work.

I actually like the new sculpt way better. The softer features look more like HF than the original.

Ooofff...thanks for those pictures of HT Indy....again reminding me how good it was I dodged THAT bullet in my collection...

As for this ANH HT update....

Neither one's doing it for me....they both are...almost there, but miss the mark. Both look like great quality head sculpts...good paint n' all....but neither looks quite like Ford.

Harrison Ford is really hard to sculpt, I didn't think so until I decided to try myself a couple of days ago. And I've seen that even if you get a decent sculpt, the paint job can mess it up completely.

This is my attempt (WIP).

Good sculpt! You should go work for Hot Toys! My only critique would be to make the hair stand up a bit more and Harrison's eyes are not symmetrical. But looks better than any attempt so far! :)

I'd say if you don't like a sculpt and are never satisfied, you should go get some clay and show us what you've got.

That was fast!:lol

Awesome computer sculpt (I'm guessing zbrush?)!

Yeah it's zbrush. Still needs a lot of work, and the hair is pretty much still a blob at this point. Will make Han/Indy/Deckard versions and share the obj so that anybody that wants to can 3D print it.

It's actually a better likeness than the non-BD HT Luke (I swapped them for my Luke Bespin,) even if the skintone is a little too dark and not quite as finely graded apps.:dunno

I love the way you've set up your Luke there man, it immediately invokes the old 1980/81 Topps trading card still pics & promo pics from back in the day. :rock

Yeah that is pretty bad alright, i still dont get why there is so much drama over us getting proper HF figures. I mean does HT do them bad on purpose to force us to keep buying bad ones hoping at some point we get good ones? Well anyway lets hope this one which most people seem to like paves the way for superior versions with ESB and ROTJ.

The chin looks like an issue on the re-worked sculpt, maybe it's just the camera lens distortion as the middle face on shot looks good. I really liked the original sculpt and thought that last hi-res photo from RS looked fantastic. Just lowering the hair piece was all that was really needed. I'm still liking the new one and the new expression looks like he's about to utter 'I have a bad feeling about this'.. I hope we don't :)

Honestly i still think the hair is throwing off the look, even on the new one. Besides the color which is easily fixed, something about it still looks off to me. Its hard to say what as han's hair depending on which scene in the film can look different too.

I really loved that last shot for the original sculpt, too, but it's still a super idealized Han Solo and doesn't look anything like Ford (captures a lot of elements of the character, though). New sculpt does have a tinge of derpyness, despite being closer to Ford. Hoping some of the awkwardness in the new sculpt is down to bad lighting and lens distortion.

When people are able to move around this sculpt and see it in person the chin probably won't be as noticeable.

I'd like to see the other hair piece (with the mic) on this facesculpt. Did they re-do that hair also?

It's a shame the sculpt doesn't capture any of the expressions or personality we see in the second row of pics with Ford.

Definitely, but I'd extend that to many of HT's figures. They don't generally do expressions except when they have swap out parts. So many of their figures have these blank and dead stares, most of them more problematic than this Solo, IMO.
