I agree, to me it's the hair throwing this whole sculpt off. The lack of facial expression also is concerning. I was really hoping to exchange my Cantina Han with this one but It's hard to imagine him not having the slightest grimace as he shoots Greedo first.

Definitely, but I'd extend that to many of HT's figures. They don't generally do expressions except when they have swap out parts. So many of their figures have these blank and dead stares, most of them more problematic than this Solo, IMO.

Yeah I do agree there. But there are still many times when you can at least read a slightly determined expression in their sculpts, if you look at them long enough (which is at least something). But this is one sculpt where I'm just not sure what kind of expression to read into it.

It really is as blank as blank can be.

It's a shame the sculpt doesn't capture any of the expressions or personality we see in the second row of pics with Ford.

This is HT's forte. Blank expressionless faces and stares.

With that said I like this new sculpt a lot more. Miles better than the original. I even decided to go ahead and PO the 2-pack. I had previously only ordered them separately with no NRD needed because I wasn't too keen on where Han was headed and didn't want to plunk down the moola on a figure I was only mildly happy with. Now I can say I'm happy with both and will be glad to have the pair lined up together in my display.

Sorry, but to me this only impresses how off the chin and nose are on the new sculpt.

So you're saying it would surprise you to learn that the chin is no longer/larger on the revised sculpt than it is on the original then?

I'm HARD on Hot Toys. I don't give them any slack. But this revision is a dramatic improvement even if some people can't see it. That doesn't bother me. I know a lot of you guys are going to be eating some serious humble pie when in-hand photos come out. :)

The chin looks like an issue on the re-worked sculpt, maybe it's just the camera lens distortion as the middle face on shot looks good. I really liked the original sculpt and thought that last hi-res photo from RS looked fantastic. Just lowering the hair piece was all that was really needed. I'm still liking the new one and the new expression looks like he's about to utter 'I have a bad feeling about this'.. I hope we don't :)

Damn, I don't see Ford in any of those.

The shape and proportions of the picture of the Hot Toys head in the middle remind me of Sideshow figures. He really has a square looking jaw there. All he needs are some bug eyes and he could be a relative of Nathan Drake.

I think matrix was saying he liked the original sculpt, cmiller. :lol

I don't like either particularly, I agree that the new one is an improvement but it's still not Ford in the nose and chin to me.

There is almost always something to read on Ford's face. It would be difficult to find a scene in any SW film where Han Solo is sitting without an expression, yet that's how HT has sculpted him.

Well, I'd say that's true of anyone. Can't recall any scene in Avengers 2 where Scarlett Johansson looks like the blow-up doll HT sculpted. Scarlet Witch is maybe a bit closer to character but still pretty expressionless. Seems to be the case more often than not with HT, but then sometimes when they go with an expression, it bombs, too (e.g., Michael Shannon's Zod).

They did a good job with Starlord, similar type of expression, smirk, could be good for Han. But I think we can all rest assured knowing there will likely be other Hans coming.

I was really hoping for something g along the lines of an open mouth yell expression. I wanted to stage the scene where Han and chewie chase the storm troopers down the hallway

Agreed. Just dreaming.
I keep staring at the real and sculpt profiles above. For me it's the shape of the eyes that is taking me off a true HF sculpt. The jawline too but if they could nail the eyes and give some even slight expression it would get a lot closer. I'm not huge in the 1 for 1 likeness to the actor being exact - but there is more room for "essence" in that sculpt.
