So, getting back to the boots... I tried the cardboard trick and it seems to work pretty well except his right boot looks like it is glued too high in the front making his heel stick out something fierce. I sent a picture to Sideshow and they say all the figures are like this. But from the pictures I've seen, I don't agree. All the boots have issue to some degree, but this looks absolutely awful. Can anyone else with the figure chime in? Are yours this bad?

I think I'm finally understanding how bad this boot problem is. All pleather boots have a bit of a crinkly ankle problem, but these were sewn in a forward sloping direction. The DID boots have some issues of their own though (a little chunkier than these.)

Got the set today....Chewbacca is just outstanding....this guy? I'm sure I'll get to the "I like it" point, but it's not blowing me away like Chewie.

For one thing, can't take my eyes off those god-forsaken boots...just wow.

I'll keep checking back for new shots n' thoughts and offer up some of my own....

Yeah, Han just seems to be landing somewhere in the middle whereas Chewy seems to be capturing imaginations a little more (hey, he has style-able fur!.) My Chewy arrives tomorrow :)yess:) but Han's another week out. I ordered separate.:slap

I don't get why people prefer sculpts like that or the Juan Solo cosplayer from the Hoth set. Hot Toy's sculpt may have its faults but it is parsecs better than those other sculpts.

Because none of them - this HT sculpt included - are home runs and all have faults. It's a Harrison Bored vs. Tan Solo face-off.:lol

This still doesn't look as much like Ford to me as the hatted Han Hoth sculpt (not a fan of the hair sculpt even though it's the exact same thing :lol). Paint detail and eyes are obviously much nicer. In hand, this one looks as good as plenty of the nice photos I saw of him beforehand. I considered getting a second head for an unhatted Hoth figure but not sure it's worth it.

When you put him in an action pose it gives him a "going through the motions" vibe. Despite that he's still a pretty nice figure. Looking forward to the Stormtrooper head sculpt, though unfortunately that hair probably won't be removable.

:goodpost:

While I haven't gotten him yet to do a pose-a-thon, the bland expression seems to kill any action pose possibilities. He doesn't even seem to have that "mild determination" look you find on most HT sculpts. He looks like he's watching TV.

The critical thing seems to be top/side light, the harsher the better. It makes the face appear to have an expression.

Here's a bit of a family photo. I still plan on purchasing SS C-3PO, as well as the Hot Toys Luke and Leia. I'm unsure if I should replace my Vader or not.

Love the line up, but jeez R2's looking a little short there.

Ha ha, I knew you guys would totally destroy me for posting up that pic of my custom Han! And I know it doesn't really have any place in this thread.

But, the point I was trying to make is that I am a massive Star Wars fan and would have LOVED a great 1/6 scale Han Solo to proudly display on my shelf, but, for me, Hot Toys really messed their head-sculpt up and I really don't like it! To me it looks nothing like HF and those dead shark eyes just kill it!! Hence why I will not be upgrading from a figure that, to me, is a better representation of a HF Han Solo than the HT effort.

However, if you love the HT sculpt and can see HF in it, then that's fantastic. We all see things slightly differently and we are all entitled to our own opinions. Enjoy the figure guys!

It's probably a moot point - HT has two more Hans coming within the next year, so two more chances for a great Han sculpt.:dunno

Two more? Han Stormtrooper and.... what? If I had to guess I would think a Force Awakens Han would come before anything from Empire or Return of the Jedi.

Jackbauer is a member here and seems to have insider knowledge and he confirmed a Han Bespin coming soon.

With the return of Han in TFA, you'd think we'll probably get quite a number of Hans in the next year or two. He got a lot of screen time in the trailer.

Cool. I'm going to try to pass on it though regardless of how awesome it is. I want to limit my collection to just ANH except for Luke. ANH Han and Leia are the most iconic to me but each version of Luke represents a stage on his hero's journey.

Yes he did, I am not planning to get any FA figures either. I've resisted pretty well so far, but might have more trouble resisting after seeing the movie. :) Older versions of the original cast like Han might be very tempting, but I passed on the new awesome looking Stormtroopers so far figuring if I change my mind and want to get one later I probably will have an opportunity when the Finn in Stormtrooper gear come out (I am guessing) at some point. But, I really don't have the shelf space so, again, my plan is to limit my Star Wars 1/6 collection to just the classic stuff. I enjoy seeing all the stuff that comes out that other people buy though and can appreciate the stuff I don't personally collect from a far; so bring on more Han Solo's and all the other characters too.

Just got my Han and Chewie two pack!! Thought I would post a quick pick of HT Han with the SS Han he will replace... then I thought I'd dig out my old Hasbro Han to show the evolution of this figure over the years. (sorry about the soft focus)

I have to say for those concerned about the likeness that the cliché that "it looks better in hand" is definitely true with this figure. He looks just like Han Solo in ANH played by Harrison Ford to me. I also don't notice the seam in the hair in person as much as pictures either. I'll futz with Han more in a little while, now I'm off to see what my Chewbacca figure is like :)

Fantastic photo, Jaymas! I love seeing comparison pics like this. It really shows you how far the hobby has come (especially looking at the Hasbro one!) and despite any shortcomings, how great a figure really is.

$20, $65, $230... but then one HT figure is worth twelve Hasbro figures.:lol

And that Sideshow Han smuggler belt and pistol is still awesome.

:rotfl Back in the day I spent $20 over and over again to collect a lot of the Hasbro line. :slap Today, I would gladly trade 12 Hasbro figures for a Hot Toys one :)

True... I'm considering unloading the Sideshow one on ebay but I wonder though that because it's not likely to sell for very much anyway if the belt and blaster are worth just keeping as a spare instead.

Have to agree, that is an awesome comparison pic! Would love to see someone do the same with Luke and Leia when they come out.

Still working on it...

I think these are just outstanding! I'm amazed at how many different looks the same figure can have. I keep falling off and getting back on the fence. But if the figure can really look this good, I'm falling off again.

How is this sorcery possible? Is qui-gon-fishing using the Living Force?
