Don't know about anyone else, but I'm easy to please though I wish I could afford HT ANH Luke and the other ANH figures. All I can do is make myself content with Han and Chewie to represent that line.

Those are my two favorite (as a pair). You've chosen wisely.

I already think the ANH Luke, the prototype even more so, resembles ROTJ Luke more than ANH Luke, so that could very well be true (sharper jaw lines, more "heroic" looking). The hair cut might be easier to pull off for ROTJ too.

I'm curious to see how HT eventually translates ROTJ Luke. Actually, what impresses me about HT ANH Luke (both prototype and production) is that the sculpt sports the fresh, crisp and youthful look of Mark Hamill before Empire. If I remember my behind the scenes history, in-between Episodes 4 and 5, Mark Hamill rolled his car and injured his face, which I think is why they wrote in the wampa attack...so to me, that older looking face of his will always be associated with Empire and Return.

Those are my two favorite (as a pair). You've chosen wisely.

Thank you, yes, Han and Chewy do look stunning as if they've come to life, or the closest we'll see in 1/6th! I remember buying the Hasbro Han back in the late 90s and ended up returning it. Interestingly, I was after the furry Chewbacca Hasbro made a while back because he should be furry and I wanted to see what I could have done with it in terms of modding....great thing that I held out for the HT version. I'm also glad I held out on buying ANH Han by Sideshow.

The Han sculpt is really about angles. My Han is on a shelf that is above my eye line, and I find that when I'm looking up at the figure is actually when it looks most like Ford....

I agree with the high setting does bring out the ford sculpt. My Han and chewie are on a top shelf and I look up at him all the time. The angle he is in rings the ford look out of this sculpt.

Angle and lighting are King.

I know there's been some criticism of this sculpt, but there is no doubt that you can get this piece in your display with breath taking results if you choose your dominant angle (in terms of his placement in your display) and light him to suit your chosen pose.

I come back to this thread every once in a while to see if I like this sculpt any better than before and unfortunately the answer is always no. Hopefully they redo the head sculpt, whether it's for the ESB or ROTJ version of Han.

I thought paint apps is what separates HT from SS figures?

It's both, everything, all of it. Right now Hot Toys 1/6 scale figures are better sculpted, painted, tailored, have more accessories, and in most cases are even cheaper than Sideshow.

To be fair, the light and lens distortion is better on the right, but still...

I agree. Your pictures in this thread are outstanding. Good stuff.

The sculpt looks fine to me. As others mentioned and as applies to the majority of sculpts, angle and the lighting are key.

I really wish I snared this figure when it was available at retail. One day, I'll pick this one up.
