I really don't know what to think right now? For $255 I shouldn't have to do a lot of work to make a figure look right but I do like some of what I see on the figure. Not sure if I want to cancel and buy a second Scout Trooper to use on the Hasbro Speeder Bike repainted and the rest of the $$ to upgrade my SS Luke or hold out hope that this will turn out to be a good figure with a little futzing?

I know these are different scales - and that we've all being hanging out for a good "fur" Chewie, but for me, one clearly captures the essence of Chewie far better.

Yeah but one looks like varnished wood and the other like real fur.

The problems with the HT face are fur-futzing related, but it's also to do with the way they've laid out the elements - the vertical distance between the mouth and nose is too much, and the horizontal distance between the canine-type teeth is too much (though the PF has those too close together, making him look a bit vampire.) Fix just those two things and it'd look a lot better.

True about the "wood" but the face on the HT is so far off it's ridiculous; the eyes and the mouth are horrendous.

That's a totally different comparison. Of course it should be easier to sculpt a more accurate face than it is to make a sculpt covered in rooted hair that looks like the character.

I'm sure we'll see multiple Chewbaccas to make use of the bodies, at least one from TFA if not ROTJ too. For those who want an ANH Chewie that does suck but for those just wanting a Chewie in general, they'll figure it out. I applaud HT for trying, we never got an attempt from SSC and it definitely has the issues people thought it would with rooted fur with needing serious futzing but I still applaud the effort.

Good luck to them if they try and achieve the ROTJ hairdo. :lol

Agreed 100%. I love the HT body - it looks like they shrunk Chewie down - but the head kills me :(

Even though I also really want these guys, there is something weird about Solo's sculpt (and that seems final as final can be) and best we seem to be able to hope for from Chewie is he's as good as the proto (which doesn't look much like him from the neck up). More I think about it, the more I think the smart money on both would be to wait for the 2nd or 3rd iteration for HT to work out the kinks and get the likenesses down. Really don't want to cancel these guys, though. Hope HT somehow comes through.

Agreed, but I'm getting this Chewy because it's a breakthrough 1/6 figure. Also, it may be another two years before the next one ships.
