I'm not entirely convinced that you're wrong about this, I mean looking at the evidence I can't rule it out. :dunno :lol

I mean how could they **** this one up like this? Other than the face the figure looks magnificent, of course it could be a bit taller but I have started to resign to the fact that most others don't care about that as much as I do. It has to be infinately easier to do the Chewie mouth and nose compared to a human sculpt. The whole fur suit and getting the fur glued to the face must have been hard to come up with. The face underneath is only a small bump on top of a bigger bump, can't be that hard by comparison. But they made him look like the actual ape the more "casual" Star Wars fans always called him out to be.

Still I congratulate the people that have posted futzed figures that actually looks pretty good despite the very obvious shortcomings in the face profile. I had started to lose hope after John Matrix which was a dissapointment even though I liked it a lot more in hand. Today I got GotG Rocket & Groot and I really really liked the look of Groot so there is renewed hope in me getting Chewbacca sooner or later. Keep posting the great pictures please.

No, but seriously. To Para and Goldo, what's the hair like on the face? Is it really glued down solid with no possibility of being pulled out or futzed at all?

From the looks of it, it's only the hair on the top and sides that can really be futzed with at all.

It's funny but one of the things I liked about the GotG figures (long before I saw the film) was that Star-Lord reminded me of Han Solo and Groot of Chewbacca. Comparing Groot and Chewie, a glaring omission is the lack of a smile, like in all the best Chewie pics. Definitely tussling the hair helps and makes the overall figure look like Chewie but the face is completely alien to the character. Regardless, it's a great first attempt and one I am sure that they will continue to tweak.
