Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I'm getting the HT Stormtroopers but really hope the Vader will be good. Marmit good if possible. Then I could get rid of the SSC giraffe.

I had the SSC ANH Vader and it took a lot of customizing to get him looking right; by the time I was done except for the height he was almost perfect. But then I sold him to free up space. Nonetheless I'm really interested to see the HT iteration...specifically hoping to see him posed with their stormtroopers.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

The new HT Death Star face off teaser pic, is getting about as much scrutiny as the new EPVII teaser trailer. :lol

Speculating is fine, but I'll save my analysis for when the actual specs are released. :duff

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I know, I'm inviting trouble by saying things like that. :lol

I still reckon that Vader teaser is just the SSC ANH Vader with a modded HT Bespin Luke ex Vader head.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I doubt it's a cobbled together figure from Sideshow and Bespin Luke parts... first off the Bespin Luke accessory is pretty undersized. It's very nicely done, but the Vader part is not a true 1/6 scale.

And the cape is definitely not Sideshow, and even the gloves looks a bit smaller than the giant oven mitts of the Sideshow figure.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Yeah, I don't know.

Surely though, they'd get the ****ing scale right this time - especially after seeing SSC do it wrong TWICE now. :lol

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I hope it's an inch taller than Sideshow's. :monkey3

And no way would HT cobble something together. They're not a few days away from missing a mortgage payment or something. :lol They have all the time in the world, so I'm sure what's in the photo is their Vader, head to toe.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

There is the Chewbacca factor that makes me hopeful. In some pictures the HT Chewie seems a little short (for chewie) and close to Sideshow Vader in height. In other pictures Chewie seems as tall as he needs to be. Now since they (HT) have at least their own Chewie to compare with I doubt their Vader will be close to as tall as the Sideshow Vaders.

Of course I'm thinking simple logic here so I might be all wrong in the end.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I just hope vader is just a little shorter than chewie since chewie is taller by 3-4" in actual so half inch on vader figure should suffice

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

This HT Vader is a great opportunity for those who like the ANH suit and missed the SSC one but for those ( like me) who wanted just one Vader and love the ESB/ROTJ and already have the Deluxe ROTJ SSC Vader it's an easy pass.
I don't know why this new HT Vader would be different from the SSC because this last one was certainly made by HT ( like the Stormtrooper ). SSC is a distributor and not a manufacturer.
There Will be certainly some differences on packaging or display options but the figure itself will be very close .
But wait and see!
:wink1:

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

SSC is both a distributor and manufacturer. HT helped SSC with the original Stormtrooper bodies, but that's it. I've heard somewhere SSC also uses HT for weapons, but SSC's figures are their own make. I would expect major differences between the two.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Interesting... Thanks for the precisions...
:wink1:

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Most probs! :lol

Hell, if HT makes some changes to his furry face, I'll probably get him too. Chewbacca - the ultimate wingman.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Yeah, the unproduced Marmit was the pinnacle. Sure, it isn't perfect, but it had THE LOOK. If Hot Toys can finally do what Marmit did all those years ago, when their license sadly expired, or surpass it and go even further towards accuracy, then this will be really cool.

To say the least.

Marmit's Vader was almost too good for anyone's display but my own. :)
