Could be a deal breaker if they are... I watched a review on YouTube and the guy said they weren't. They certainly didn't look red. I do love the matt look on the anh vader. Think it's more sinister.

You don't see it under most lighting conditions, but once you put something behind the lens (just white or reflective silver), they instantly become amber under light. But this requires pulling the dome off and separating the helmet in half, both of which requires breaking the glue.

They aren't supposed to be red.

My sentiments also.

:lol

On that side by side pic it actually does...
Speaking of which, has anybody made side by side pics of the two Sideshow Vaders and the HT one?

Hey bud, i happen to have the SSC (2nd ver) and HT vaders out right now. here's a side by side for ya. I havent done any mods on either, both are straight as they come out of the box:

That's probably the worst I've seen the HT cape look.. Yeesh.. is it really that thin :thud:

The HT cape is really nice and thick. I can't even look at my SS anymore without thinking Hasbro. That side by side shows a mini Vader and a toy Vader.

The one thing I'd really like an anh vader for is the red lenses and they aren't there.

Yes, the Hot Toys ANH Vader has the red-amber lenses. They are quite dark and not easy to notice, it's like that in most of the scenes in ANH as well.

Aren't the lenses screen accurate? Could've sworn I've seen a few pics where reflective material was placed behind them to bring out the color?

Yep a few folks have put reflective material inside the helmet behind the lenses to make the red-amber color more noticeable, to much success.

So sad when you see them like that.

Isnt it though? lol I used to be so in love with the SSC until I got my HT, but side by side he just ends up looking dopey. I still do like him though, and he hangs out on a shelf far away from the HT Vader haha

I think it's actually thicker than the SSC, it definitely hangs so much more naturally. The obvious over sized stitching and the plastic chain are the only possible nit picks I have on the cape, but it's not really something that bothers me much.

Exactly my thoughts! The SSC is a a nice toy, but still toyish in the end.

I got the 1/6 Interrogator Droid that came with the Hot Toys (HT) ANH Darth Vader. I passed on Vader (waiting for a HT ROTJ reveal instead), but got the droid from a Rebelscum member. The original stand/base for the Hot Toys 1/6 Interrogator Droid was kinda cheaply made, out of some soft plastic to look like the Hot Toys Death Star grate stands. But kinda poorly made, flimsy and wobbly. So I took an old Sideshow round stand that came with a 1/6 Jedi Training Remote, made a bigger hole in it and inserted the clear supporting rod from the Interrogator Droid. Glued it inside (the SSC stand has a back lid you can open) with epoxy glue and then added metal pellets (glued as well) to give it weight. Looks better than what HT made: the round base is smaller, it is sturdy and more elegant.

I like it. It looks great!

In all the pics I'm seeing of the HT Vader, the rear edge of the dome seems to be nearly touching, and in some cases touching the shoulders. Is this a mod? It doesn't matter how I angle the neck and head, I can't get him to look like that.
