The White glove's make's me laugh :lol it's not a diecast OBI WAN how much damage can happen really ? I Appreciate a good review but if i busted out white glove's i'd have to laugh to handle my figure's. :lol This fine wine Obi is a 2015 limited and aged to maxium perfection. :lol

Im no Photoshop expert but I tried to open up the eyes up a bit for kicks.
My conclusion is that the overall shape of the head may be just a bit off. The squinty eyes only accentuate the disproportions.

Notice the hairline and forehead on the original.

p.s. Wor- I borrowed your pic.

They used this for reference:

Dunno if they had pic 1 as is? Or if it was a retouched version, since it appears by all accounts that it is simply a different shot in the same photo session...the first pic is rather flat looking and the shape of his face actually appears flatter, like the hot toys sculpt

He's not handling a Gutenberg Bible now, is he? :lol

I just watched the review. The outfit and saber look great, the sculpt resembles Guinness from certain angles but to me, it doesn't look much like him from head-on. :dunno

The head sculpt looks pretty good in Nailz' video -- but I just can't get past that curly beard. And the cheap material for the white tunic is also a letdown.

However, if for some reason these go on sale at some point, I'd consider picking one up... but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm thinking I'll get this guy if he goes on sale at some point - he'd be posed hood up in profile dueling Vader anyway, and he looks pretty great in that orientation from the pics I've seen. Hopefully Paramore will seal the deal for me.

I've never felt the need to have a Ben (I mean other than dueling Vader, how do display him in a cool/exciting way?) but getting the HT just seems like a whole lot less hassle - not to mention a whole lot cheaper - than buying a SSC Ben and redoing head, body and hands.

It's the drawback of HT doing SW - I'm getting characters I had no interest in getting before (like ANH Leia.)

Well since luke is right around the corner i think i will try to get him 1st ben will have to wait till later.

Or in the words of ben kenobi: " You must do what you feel is right, of course. "

The inner robe is too thin, but I understand why they did it and can appreciate the effort to try to find materials that mimics the actual material used when scaled down. I think we sometimes take for granted that for something to lay right, crease in the right places, and look natural at 1/6 scale the thickness of material in clothing needs scaled down too (though it almost never can get scaled all the way down). I have the sideshow piece right in front of me now and the material used on the inner robes have the right kind of texture but is too think to lay right and it doesn't crease and wrinkle enough and when it does it doesn't crease and wrinkle in the right places on the body; it's "too thick" for the scale. The "scarf" (I don't know what that piece is called that goes around his neck and goes under his belt) is particularly too thick as it has a front and back sewn together. I also think the fact that the character has three layers of clothing (shirt/pants, inner robes, outer robes) on also makes it challenging not to have all these layers add too much bulk at this scale.

I am not defending the material used for Hot Toys Kenobi, but I also don't know what other options they had. I imagine that it's possible that nothing is perfect and perhaps using a thicker material they thought they would have sacrificed another aspect of how the robes should look they didn't want to lose.

How about next to anh Luke and a tusken or two? It is after all the moment Luke meets Kenobi and is set on the path of becoming a Jedi. If not exciting its at least very significant. I'm sure I'll have him dueling Vader at times too. I like to change up my display from time to time. The versatility of sixth scale is a big reason I collect.

Okay got him today. First impressions are he looks great in hand and on the shelf, sculpt i have no issues with right from the start i was fine with it. There are a couple things that do annoy me. First is the robe, while it hangs VERY well and is very thin it has that feel and im not sure what material it is but its a pain in the *** to futz because it seems to stick to your fingers. Secondly the tunic that wraps around the neck is just too thick imo. Thirdly the swap out arm, everytime you move the arm is pops out and drives me batty.

Overall im glad to finally have Old ben on my shelf and there is no doubt i much prefer it to sideshow's but as stated by someone else sideshow's inner tunic pips HT to the post.

Not had much picture time and i originally wasn't going to post any but here is one slightly futzed.
