I wish you would stop making so much sense. Repped. :duff

Anakin got him by the short hairs.

Thanks. :hi5:

I stood firm on my PO of the SSC Han Hoth as most (including me:lol) mocked it as Eskimo Joe - and in the end it was a great deal and I couldn't be happier with that (well, except hatted Tan head) and the SSC Luke Hoth. Five figs for the price of two (and a half.)

True... and starting from scratch is a real toss up here. Not sure what I would do in that case.

I will end up spending about the same money whether I go with the HT Ben or the SS Ben repainted... so it truly is a matter of which looks better to me.

I have to weigh bobble-caricature Ben VS realistic but weird Asian-amalgam Ben.

Yeah, I got nothin' Ben-wise. Look like it's gonna stay that way.:lol

Well, I'm hoping Paramore pics are going to knock my socks off when he gets this.

The SSC is a great sculpt but it is a little oversized and noticeably lacking in sculpt detail.

Oh, and don't forget the WAIT involved in repaints. HT Ben now... or repainted SSC in 6-9 months (or more... or never-get-your-head-back). A bird in the hand...

I guess im just crazy then cuz i dont see alec in that sideshow repaint either. Its not any worse than the HT version but not super great like everyone is saying it is. I can tell who its supposed to be but that looks very sub par by todays standards.

"Help us, Obi-Wan Paramore; you're our only hope."

Yeah, Paramore seems to have emerged as my go-to guy for first pics. He's always early, they're great quality but also have a true in-hand "vibe" - whatever that means.:lol

He does.

Though with this figure even he may not be able to work his magic.

Unless somewhere hidden in a dark corner of the box there's a little zip lock bag marked: "Essence of Alec Guinness. Sprinkle liberally."

That's how I see some of these sculpts. There are those that aren't accurate, but yet they exude an essence of the character and actor that nevertheless make them seem right. I get that with the likes of SS Han (in cap) and Luke Hoth.

Looking at my Star Wars HT and SS OT orders and pre-orders it looks like I'm only missing out on three figures: Obi-Wan, Darth Vader and Jawas. I just can't bring myself to buy them.

I'm probably closer to the Jawas, but they have that same gauze-like chiffon material as Obi.

The good thing about this figure is that my repainted Trevor grove head sculpt should fit on it and they wil be plenty of them on eBay for people to buy at a good price now this one is out

Word. It was a solid sculpt for its time but far from a home run. It suffered from common SS issues and the head was oddly sized so it didn't stay in the collection. HT offering isn't a home run either however, I don't find it a far off as many others so it'll be in the collection.

Doesnt look anything like Alec Guiness?!? Really? I think it looks pretty close. Can't wait to get it!

Somehow it doesn't read as the sum of its parts.

Yeah... those comparison pics aren't doing this sculpt any favours at all... Trevor's sculpt with a repaint seems to still be king.

People see Jesus in potato salad. Proves nothing.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Wor-Gar again. :rotfl

Please, whatever you do, do not step foot inside a National Portrait Gallery.
I'm not sure you would be able to take it. You'd have an absolute meltdown. :rotfl

How do you non US collectors stay in the game? $220US converts to $292 CAN (plus tax) if buying from local stores. Are you guys paying $300 for figures now?
This is a great looking figure but price has removed all sense of desire.

Only in the game for two pieces right now: Chewbacca (unique to collections) and Batman Returns (don't own a Batman and have been waiting since 2012)

This is a great looking figure but when you loo at the cost of owning it could just as well be a piece of paper because I feel nothing. Price has removed all sense of desire.
Median income Canada ($76,550)
Median income United States ($51,939)

$76,550 Canadian dollars equals $57,760.51 US dollars with today's exchange. I think you guys are doing okay up there. :)

BD Robocop was a figure I wanted bad and although the price was high, it was a must purchase. When I finally received it in hand opened the box, my first thought was not “WOW… IT”S AMAZING” but rather “This is not worth $400”.

Not matter how much our income is, I think these figures prices have killed the value of appreciation. I am not pointing a figure at anyone it just “it what it is”!!

Sell your other cheaper figure like NECA and McFarlane. That's who I started and now I have enough figure to juggle as "currancy". Seling my WS Captain America (with extra head) to pay for this guy. :)

Hot Toys prices are getting worse I think. We discuss this on The Hottoycast all the time. When you consider the price of the Judge Dredd figure being around $100 and seeiing the quality of that, it helps put things in perspective. We are paying for the brands as much as the actual figure.

When I first started getting into Hot Toys (Circa: Berserker Predator, T1 Tech Noir, Jack Sparrow, Nicholson Joker), I was selling many of my old loose McFalrlane/NECA and other MISC actions figures and other things on craigslist. But back then $220 DX Sparrow or $170 Tech Noir with everything in the box seemed worth it. There was value. Today I am paying $300 + for a very basic figure. Motivation to sell other things has been removed. I just can't drop $300+ on a basic figure it takes the love and passion out of me.

My son said the HT Ben looks like Daryl from the The Walking Dead as an old man. :lol

Another candidate to add to the list of random old guys!

Well Obi Wan does have light up saber and over all Star Wars does seem to be a more expenive license. But I totally get that where you are coming from. Things are getting crazy now. I think we as impatience collectors have helped prices go up with these first day of sale HK sellers.
My advice would be to scour the Facebook groups for good deals. Some dude selling a Mandarin for £90, Iron Man's for £120. There some good deals to be found if you are willing to wait.
