Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

****, I hated that as a kid. Drove me nuts. :lol

Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

:lol Alright, ya got me there. I've also seen a poster with a pink light saber blade...still don't make it right. :D

Okay, so the kid made a mistake. He picked up the sabre intended for Leia.

But only because his dad had borrowed his...

Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

So long as screen accuracy isn't what you're looking for, there are all kinds of reasons to love this figure.

So there are more screen accurate obi-wan action figures? I am interested in those.

Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

Sideshow's.

:exactly:

This is Sideshow's sculpt repainted by 8bitcommando. This is closer to Sir Alec than that idealized version by HT.

So far, HT's Solo and Ben are unremarkable. It's as if they didn't get the likeness rights to any of the human characters, and are going for something that sort of, but not really, looks like the actors. Very disappointing.

Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

If I could cobble one of those together, that'd be pretty cool.

Not gonna happen though.. :lol

Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

They better nail ROTS Obi-Wan whenever they make it. This is good but still miles off. It's sad, Guinness has lots of personality in his face, I thought it would be easy since they absolutely nailed Ben Kingsley.

Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

They also nailed Anthony Hopkins with Thor, it is quite surprising to see how off this is.

All too true. This was a figure I was looking forward to in particular, as Obi Wan is my favorite Star Wars character. The unique face of late Alec Guinness must have been an invitation for Hot Toys to bring out their very best as they have shown so many times. Why not here?

Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

I too hope to one day see ROTS Obi-Wan tackled, I'm quite happy with Sideshow's though obviously the quality is nowhere near HT standard, but I love that particular instance of the character most and would welcome an HT version alongside the Sideshow in my Obi-Wan collection.

Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

So, we've had the Vader preview. Obi Wan can't be far behind!

Yeah, was just thinking. Vader looks way better in the official pics, maybe Ben will too - but I don't think so.:lol

They were able to avoid that above/side angle that made Vader look so odd and fox-like at the toy show. Not an angle we ever saw Vader in the films. Think Ben will look like Han. Impressive in that it looks human, but off.

Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

If they don't at least paint his hair and beard a lot whiter for the preview pics, then something is seriously wrong with them. Because that's the least they could do, that would probably make the biggest difference.

Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

Yeah, gotta say the sculpt on this one isn't that impressive. Everything else is. I'd like to get one of those sabers for my Clone Wars Obi-Wan custom.

Hard to beat Sideshow on this one. They've had some misses (and some REALLY BAD misses), but Obi-Wan wasn't one of them.
