It seems clear that HT had a very tight schedule to do everything it wanted to. Based on Han and Ben, looks like they had two passes only on the sculpts and then it was time to move on. This is the down side to having a new movie in the wings: they whipped thru the OT characters swiftly so they could make-the-date on the TFA figures that were required to get the license.

Perhaps in a few years they will revisit some of these lesser offerings and better them.

Han obviously got the new sculpt, this one maybe just got some tweaks or a different paint job. I don't really remember the two iterations being that far apart that it couldn't come down to paint and lighting. I mean wasn't this what was first shown? Looks about the same. From Toy Soul 2014

Here's the first picture where I think Ben looks like Ben...

Yup, some shots look just like Guinness others don't look anything like him. I'm waiting for more video to see the camera move around at various angles to get a better idea of what this might look like in person. Video reviews in the past have helped me make decisions - at times after video reviews I have passed and did not buy the figure (like Hot Toys Indiana Jones) and there were times after seeing a video review where I ordered (like the early reviews of Hot Toys Han Solo).

Video would definitely clear up some questions.

Thankfully no one wants any tweaks on Luke and Leia, so HT is free to hustle those out quickly -- as they have already begun -- and get to the business of making TFA figures.

Glad I didn't order this guy. Looks like it going to be yet another parts battle. Anyone steals ****e outta my shopping cart this time and I'll show up at your door with a loaded M16.

I shall buy all the parts. Then sell them to you for double the price. :lecture

:lol

If I had the stock SSC Obi-wan I may have been tempted to get this. But as it is, repainted and given a new body and hands the Trevor sculpt is still king.

I have the stock one, and this simply makes me wonder if I'm better off spending the money on a good repaint of the SS sculpt and a few HT parts.

Trevor Sculpt? From the context I assume that that is who did the Sideshow one? As for a repaint I am not sure how one goes about getting that done and if you commission one what happens if you aren't satisfied with how it comes out?

Maybe someone needs to start an Obi-Wan Kenobi custom thread and show off what can be done and how they did it.

Usually an artist will rework, within reason, the sculpt until you like it. But in any event, isn't it the same as the HT option -- it is what it is.

I'm obviously leaning toward the SS repainted... but I'd still like to see more pictures and hopefully a movie of this figure before I have to decide to keep or cancel this beloved character.

Dave, I constantly defend the forum and its members on Facebook, trust me when I tell you, this is NOT what people complain about. If you ever want an honest POV about the kinds of things I've seen people complaining about, let me know.

Actually all of what I quoted was used to ridicule this forum in another online discussion.

If SS's had been a bit better scaled and slightly less caricature in nature, as most of Trevor's sculpts tend to be a little on the large side and look unrealistic to me, I'd have kept mine. Getting a repaint and upgrading with a few HT parts is still a great way to go though.
