I forgot about the scale. I need my HT Han to be delivered so I can see the HT SW scale for this line. Maybe the old SS sculpt will look too big next to HT Luke, Han and Leia.

As this hobby is partly nostalgic, part of me wants Trevor's Kenobi portrait to remain in my Star Wars display as homage to the sculptor who, for years, gave us wonderful 1/6th Star Wars figures. And Ben would be a nice piece to hold that place.

I have a repainted ssc obi-wan and it looks awesome. I will take a photo of it tomorrow

I look forward to seeing it, I am sure it does look awesome :)

One thing though I wonder about with repaints though is how they look when displayed right next to Hot Toys Luke? A repaint of sideshow might look 100 times better than stock, and can be a great solution when displaying by itself, but if it still doesn't fit the look and "realism" of Hot Toys Luke (for instance) it still may be just as hard to display together as it is to display a HT with a stock SSC.

I like my Sideshow Ben, but I have him displayed with Luke, when I upgrade Luke I don't want Ben to suffer from the side by side comparison. If it weren't for displaying them side by side I might just update the SSC body and be happy with what I have.

Im confused. This pic infers that the light up lightsaber will be removable.
My lack of tech knowledge inferred that the piece had to be one entire part to light up due to the working components?

What???? :slap how in the world did I miss that the lightsabers light up???????? Where was I? I had no idea. I hope it works well enough to not only look good but not break or wear out too soon. If it works good cool.

Usually an artist will rework, within reason, the sculpt until you like it. But in any event, isn't it the same as the HT option -- it is what it is.

I'm obviously leaning toward the SS repainted... but I'd still like to see more pictures and hopefully a movie of this figure before I have to decide to keep or cancel this beloved character.

I don't feel this way about HT's Leia... At first I liked the Snyderman sculpt better but my opinion has since changed... With Ben, nope. Ski did my repaint, he is on an HT body with some Bane hands. Definitely worth it. Looks just like a wee Alec in my detolf. :love

I just bought a SS Obi cheap with a re-paint HS swap in mind. Might be doing the same with the HT to SS inner robes as well. I don't hate the HT's HS, but it doesn't blow me away--at least until I have in-hand--where and when it really counts.

It seems clear that HT had a very tight schedule to do everything it wanted to. Based on Han and Ben, looks like they had two passes only on the sculpts and then it was time to move on. This is the down side to having a new movie in the wings: they whipped thru the OT characters swiftly so they could make-the-date on the TFA figures that were required to get the license.

Perhaps in a few years they will revisit some of these lesser offerings and better them.

Thankfully, we didn't have to pay $220 for these two lesser offering placeholders that will be bettered in a few years.:monkey3

I have the stock one, and this simply makes me wonder if I'm better off spending the money on a good repaint of the SS sculpt and a few HT parts.

In truth, I would say I've only seen a small handful of custom repaints that look as ultra-real as a stock HT head does. Maybe it's the lack of fine detail in the sculpt versus HT's "pores and wrinkles" approach combined with HT's translucence to the paint/finish.

The Ben repaints I've seen - even the very nice ones - tend to look like great, life-like paintings of Alec Guiness, not a shrunken down living Guiness.

I don't have any Bens at all, so maybe I'll just continue to wait. It's not cheap or satisfying either way I go - rebooted SSC or HT. I was really hoping Ben would have a slight improvement bump in-hand like Han did. Han still looks a bit off and bit bored, but it's better than I was expecting - yet Ben looks the same as the V2 proto.:(

Yeah, I'm really not picky and expected to be very happy with Ben. But strangely, in this case, I'm not satisfied so far. I still hope to change my mind when someone finally post pictures... but I think the overwhelming silence by those who have it in hand reflects that the sculpt is not good (and they don't want to hear about it via their own pictures.)

If it was great, you can bet we'd be inundated with pictures right now. And I'm not talking about the guys with small studios taking pics for HT, I'm talking your average Joe with a camera phone.

I don't know about the people planning a HS swap with the SS version

SS paint job is always suspect in the skin tones :lecture

Does anyone see this...

Oy. :slap

I never go by shotty badly lit blog pics. I'm sure in hand it gives you Guinness.

Also the expression changes the appearance between a Photo where the character is smiling and a HS with a neutral look

I've seen enough looks good to me. Para will surprise everyone, bank on it.

Does the LED go through the arm. Why is there an extra arm?

As far as know Anakin lost his arm not OBI WAN :lol
