Guys and gals i've been reading this with interest, but also worry.

I went to the doctors today for a blood test with all this talk about Midichlorians, and it turns out i'm Midichlorian positive...!!!

Should i be worried...?

What was the prescription for you? A healthy dose of Episode IV, V, and VI? Watch one and forget all about it in the morning? :lol

So it's closer to fitting the "franchise" after the guy that created it sells it, leaves the company, and new stuff erases what he wrote? Like it or not Lucas created Star Wars, and wether you like the PT or not it's his vision, his creation.(and to be clear I'm not saying they suck or are good..that's all opinion) what I'm saying is that people saying the original I ain't canon or out of character or anything like that but then praising the OT and saying the new will be better are...I don't know how to word this...missing the mark, I guess. Lucas created and owned Star Wars. Whatever he created will always be closer to the original then anything JJ or anyone else creates. You may prefer one to the other. But you can't say one is more true to the source..not unless you actually created it. It's like someone else re-writing a Stephen King novel and then saying it's closer to kings vision. It may or may not be better but it wouldn't be his vision.

Great post.

Revenge of the Sith is more than worthy enough of the title of Star Wars, better than ROTJ a good chunk of people would agree, should never be remade. I can see the argument against TPM/AOTC, but still think they are fine.

ROTS is a great movie. Ian McDiarmid is brilliant from start to finish.

I don't think any film was used in the making of those abominations. While it's true their infamy will live forever, they'd probably have been stricken from canon if it weren't for their continued ability to push merchandise. Maybe one day when Disney sees there's a ton of money to be made by releasing another trilogy we can have a set of prequel movies that make some sense and fit the spirit of the franchise.

Absolute nonsense.

I liked the PT. Not as much as the OT but still watchable. Enjoyed yoda's fight scenes and all the jedi and wookies and maul. Oh and it had a very nice Natalie Portman included.

Yeah, he shot them in 1080p. So if home cinema goes the 4k way then those two movies are gonna end up as dinosaur fossils :lol

I have a 4K TV and recently watched the complete saga on Blu-ray. They all look superb, with ROTS having the best picture quality of the bunch.

Seriously?

The stupid faces he pulls when Anakin and Obi are fighting Dooku??? The stupid faces he pulls when fighting Mace??? I could go on but... well, hey... you think he's great and that's all that matters. He's such a "brilliant" actor that his stellar career reflects that well...

The scene where he tells Anakin about Plagueis is his (and the film's) ONLY good moment.

Nah, every scene he's in is quite brilliant.

Also, your crack at his career holds no weight. McDiarmid is first and foremost a stage actor and director. He took a break from theater to do the prequels and went right back to it afterwards.

Guys BTW, Midichlorians is only mentioned by Qui-Gon.....and he was totally insane. So they actually do not exist , he was just telling Anakin a fairy tale to shut him up so he would go to sleep....like Santa and the Easter Bunny.

We need Jack Bauer to pitch this to his contact at Disney, stat. Though it would probably just be easier to Greedo that scene.

You can argue Lucas vision all you want, but it's quite obvious that vision got muddled and lost in the years between the OT and PT.

Even at 12 years old I was horrified when watching TPM at the movie theater.

Whatever vision he had, maybe the story he tried to tell would have been good. But it got lost in CGI, horrendous dialogue, a compulsive need to tie everything together with the OT, a total failure to direct the actors, and the inability to make a good movie.

I really don't see how anyone can argue that the PT are good movies, much less on par with the OT.

As for McDiarmid: the unlimited power scene is proof enough that no, he was not brilliant from start to finish.
