Good post.

There's such a desire by some posters here [with delusions of grandeur] to bash Lucas and to question his vision from day 1 because the PT wasn't what they imagined it would be. I find it hilarious because they defend the OT to the death but bash Lucas to the point that they almost wish he hadn't created the OT.

Delusions of grandeur? How about an opinion? Speaking for myself here, I don't dislike the PT because it isn't exactly what I thought it would be. I dislike them because, in my opinion, they're bad movies. The script, acting, direction, etc are all below the standard I hold for my own movie watching enjoyment. And I don't wish that he had never created the OT! I love the original trilogy. They were special in my childhood and they're special to me now, and still really good movies, despite several flaws. Virtually no movie is perfect. But at least, in my opinion, the original trilogy had a strong story, relatable characters, and weren't packed to the bursting point with CGI ****.

And the reason that we challenge Lucas's supposed 'vision from day 1' is because he changes his story every time he's asked about it.

I don't hate George Lucas! Stop assuming that just because I dislike the prequels, and to a lesser extend Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I hate the guy himself! I don't. He gives to charity, etc, he seems to be a good man. He just isn't the film maker he used to be. IMO.

I love Star Wars as a whole. Canon, EU, etc. Its a much more rewarding experience as a fan to not live my life crapping all over the guy who created everything that is Star Wars.

George Lucas didn't create everything. Do you really think that he gave every tiny piece of Star Wars related material a meticulous check before signing off on it?
We don't 'crap' on the stuff we don't like just to antagonise George. We 'crap' on it because we don't like it.

I don't get what difference

Wait... Are you saying there's something you don't know?

Here's a tip. It doesn't matter who wrote what. Theres no changing the fact that the OT is made of three decent to great movies and the PT is made of three sub-par movies. Now you can get back to your creative writing.

You're speaking for anyone (everyone) in the world with taste. But you're wasting your breath here because the people you're replying to will only continue to reframe the discussion to fit their pre-conceived narrative. I've seen these guys quote back other posters and "reply" about something else entirely.

Like complaining yoda wasn't designed to be a sword smith...and it's bad becuase Lucas changed it later. Well, if he never changed anything Yoda would have been essentially Jar Jar. He was originally written to be comic relief while Obi was on degoba training luke. It was changed when the actor playing Obi Wan wanted less work and less ties to the film, this resulted in the whole story needing to be changed. All three actually. Things happend with Harrison Ford that resulted in changes.

What matters is what ended up in the movie - whether it's great or ****e. For 19 years, Yoda was a wise Jedi Master whose potency with the Force allowed him, only a 2 foot tall tiny little green alien, to lift an entire space ship.

Then he was a crazy CGI thing that bounced off walls and had a baby lightsaber. Utterly demeaning IMO.

I fail to follow how Lucas's vision and the quality of PT, OT films have to do with the Hot Toys Kylo Ren fig...

Kylo countered when someone accused him of having a very low midichlorian count. He admited to not being force sensitive, but that the entire midichlorian thing was a bunch of garbage that some supposed nut-job with a God complex came up with.

It's just kind of mushroomed from there as far as I recall.

I like the PT because I'm a fan of star wars, but they are 2 decent movies and 1 sub-par. Even then when i watched AOTC as a young adult I was geeking out like crazy when Yoda saved Obi Wan & Anakin with all the theater cheering. That means I was happy to see the rise of the Sith, Obi Wan as a padawan, the Jedi order & the old republic. Movies are nothing but memories and I don't care if Han shot first because that's how I want to remember it. Yoda was a silly character to me in the OT as a kid, but as an adult there's nothing more Star Wars to me than his closing arc in the Clone Wars cartoon. Good memories and I have George Lucas to thank for that and I'm glad he wrote the story for Ep. VII. Looking forward to seeing it with my son.

He didn't. He also didn't write nor direct the Clone Wars cartoon series, nor of course the Rebels show that's on now.

He was an executive producer though on clone wars & clearly had input. And though he might not be the screenwriter, he wrote the basic premise for Ep. VII. Can't really watch rebels, seems redundant.

He submitted a script for Ep VII but Disney rejected it. The new trilogy will have no Lucas influence, for better *and* worse.

It's heartening that Kasdan is on board, but worrying that they had to churn out the script in short order.

I'll have to stay out of threads with spoilers as I doubt I'm going to try and watch it on opening night.

His jumping around and flips is made possible through the Force by something called Force Valor. Very few ever use this technique. It actually solidifies himself as one of the greatest force users ever, not demeaning in the slightest.

"Force Valor was a light side Force power that increased the resolve, accuracy, and speed of one's self and one's allies. Tapping into the Force, a Jedi could increase the rate at which one's capacities functioned, allowing the body to move more quickly, strike more powerfully, and fight with improved accuracy.

Yoda used this ability to overcome the infirmities of old age, which was necessary for a practitioner of Form IV lightsaber combat."

Yes he did. He was heavily involved in a few key story arcs throughout the show.

The day after THE FORCE AWAKENS hits theaters will be a very interesting day here on the forum.

All the ******* will be funny and painful to read.

When was that ever in any of the films? :huh
