Star-Lord was also a half God in the first GotG. :lecture

So being a god is more powerful than being strong in the force? Both are highly implausible and therefore immeasurable, which makes this a silly argument.

And it's also not surprising that he'd still want to play the noble, optimistic and iconic hero of ROTJ again instead of something much more challenging and complex that was sure to be divisive to the fanbase.

It was also his idea to have Luke appear in the forest at the end of TFA, so clearly he was itching to be the big iconic hero again. Whether it actually made sense for the story or not.

That was a very self-serving idea on his part.

Especially since being a "god" in the MCU just means you're a powerful being who isn't from Earth which is exactly what Leia was in TLJ.

Yep at the end of the day Mark is just another fanboy and wanted to be up on screen in "maximum ***-kicking hero" form. Nothing wrong with having his own preferences but that doesn'tautomatically mean that what he wanted was in the best interest of the overall film.

Mark may not have agreed at first with the direction the story took, but he did bring his best performance to the table because of it. He is, in the end, a true professional.

What I hate is that people quoted him out of context, cutting his full comment to make it seem like he hated the film. That is malicious.

Tim Cent has figure for $331. Anybody jumping early on this figure?

Considering what we got definitely wasn't in the best interest of the film, i'd have listened to him.

I have a lot of problems with The Last Jedi, but honestly, the Luke/Rey scenes aren't among them. There's so much similarity between Luke and Rey and it's uncanny, and I have to wonder if the OT was made today, people would hate Luke just as much as they hate Rey.

-Luke blew up a Death Star the first time he flew an X-Wing. It was established he was a good pilot.
-Rey escaped pursuit on Jakku the first time she flew the Falcon (poorly at first). It was established she was a good pilot.
It was never once established that Rey had any piloting capability.

-Luke took on Darth Vader in his first lightsaber duel. He held his own.
-Rey took on Kylo Ren in her first lightsaber duel. She held her own.
If you really think that Luke actually held his own against Darth Vader than you clearly missed the whole subtext of that scene. Vader was toying with an overconfident Luke, and easily beat him once he started getting a couple lucky hits in.

-Luke was gifted with the Force, and was able to guide missiles to destroy the Death Star the first time he tapped into it.
-Rey was gifted with the Force, and was able to move a mountain to rescue her friends the first time she tapped into it.
Read those sentences again and tell me if you really can't see any difference there.

You also left out the dozen or more so reasons why Rey was definitely a Mary Sue and why a good part of the fandom hates her.

What we got regarding Luke was great so I'm not going to spend months anguishing over whether it was the "best" option or not. All I know is that Mark Hamill has never dictated how his character should be written so I see no reason for that to have changed just for TLJ.

Ensuring equality of outcome by artificially controlling equality of opportunity in any way is inherently oppressive.

There is no way around this. Making race, gender, ect any kind of factor whatsoever in the hiring process and being anything other than completely blind to it is prejudicial.

Save yourself the brain cells, my friend, and just block/ignore the individual. My patience for this kind of petulance and clownery is much lower than it used to be, as I’ve realized that many like this aren’t interested in having a rational discourse. You’re dealing with a miserable, self loathing, angry individual that hates themselves because of their ***. Like the late George Carlin once stated: “Never argue with an *****. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”

So being slapped by Princess Leia is a sign of emasculation and the pending fall of civilization? I wish I could have gotten de-masculated then, civilization be damned.

I love how Star Wars, one of the greatest sci-fi/fantasy franchises of all time, can no longer be discussed or enjoyed without an obnoxious debate on identity politics flaring up!
It makes me eager to spend more money on this franchise and its collectibles, and spend more time sharing my enthusiasm with other fans since I KNOW we all share a love of the franchise and thus will surely approach one another with an immediate common bond and mutual respect!
