Re: Hot Toys The Last Jedi Rey 1/6 Figure

If Rey isn't a Skywalker or Solo, then what options are left? Daughter of a Jedi we haven't seen yet?

Grand daughter of Obi-wan?

Re: Hot Toys The Last Jedi Rey 1/6 Figure

Entity of the Force? Relative of Palpatine? Would explain the strong connection. One could say the "massive power" Luke refers to could be the Emperor.

He says "raw strength" and it could be misdirection, but I highly suspect he's talking about Rey and Kylo.

Re: Hot Toys The Last Jedi Rey 1/6 Figure

I presumed he was referring to Kylo when he said that the last time he saw that type of raw strength (the strength that Rey has), it didn't scare him enough.

That's what I meant as well, sorry if I wasn't quite clear.

After watching the trailer a couple of times that's the conclusion that I have, the scenes with Rey and Luke with that specific dialogue looked like they took place in two different locations. The same goes for when Kylo has his hand extended out and Rey asking for help at the end. The trailer was intentionally edited to be a bit misleading, which I kinda prefer to keep the movie fresh and surprising.

Re: Hot Toys The Last Jedi Rey 1/6 Figure

It would make a lot of sense that both Kylo and Rey have that raw strength if both are children of Anakin's offspring.

Thats right. I completely blanked about raw strength. Yeah in all likelihood it's Kylo he was referring to.

Fully agree. Clever editing, and there's NO WAY they would give away such pivotal plot points.

...or would they assuming we'd all assume we'd dismiss them as too obvious? Just kidding...mostly :)

Yeah, I concur. It's likely they just spliced the two scenes together to make it seem more suspenseful. The new Justice League trailer did the same thing in showing Clark Kent asking Lois about the engagement ring, but then immediately showed a scene of Lois waking up in the middle of the night so as to make the viewer believe it was just a dream.

It would make a lot of sense that both Kylo and Rey have that raw strength if both are children of Anakin's offspring.

Or if Rey is a descendant of The Emperor....

Re: Hot Toys The Last Jedi Rey 1/6 Figure

"I've seen this raw strength only once before. It didn't scare me enough then. It does now."

Those were Luke's exact words in the trailer. Just watched it again. Rey's line at the end of the trailer was "I need someone, to show me my place in all this."

I'm thinking Luke gives up and decides to stop training her, and the last scene where she said that (that made it look like Kylo was offering her his help) was probably her giving him a pep talk and pleading with him to continue training her.

Re: Hot Toys The Last Jedi Rey 1/6 Figure

Man, he was just so totally Luke again in that scene, with that exact same intensity we saw in ESB. I honestly wasn't sure it was possible after all these years, since I've gotten so used to the super hammy personality he has now.

He's a great actor. This will be an awesome performance! I can feel it.

:exactly:

Yeah, so many years of Alec Guinness impressions - then suddenly, Luke is back.:horror:clap

Finn needs to get his agent on the phone though. I forgot he was even in the trailer. He seems to have been bumped from one of the leads to glimpsed-in-two-shots guy (doing the same thing he did in TFA - dressed as bad guy and faux-saber battle.)

I'm excited that the Hoth battle gets the ST re-do treatment this time around though. And the Emperor/Luke face-off gets the the ST re-do with the Snoke/Rey face-off (red Imp guard waiting just outside too, and presumably a Sith relative ready to step in and help.) I'm hoping that Benecio DT plays the new Lando (gambler... casino...) :yess:

Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen. Hoo-ha-ha-ha...

I agree that Luke decides not to train her.

However, I'm 99% sure that the scene at the end with Rey is from the campfire near the falcon. In the BTS reel, we see Chewie sitting at a campfire with an empty seat on his left (our right). In the scene with Rey, the way her head is just turned sideways doesn't make it seem like she's standing, and the light that's reflecting could definitely be from the campfire if she's looking to her right and talking to Chewie. Also, as others have pointed out, the backgrounds don't match up for her and Kylo. The air is pretty much clear behind her, where as with Kylo there's embers, smoke, etc all over the place.

Totally agree with the scenes not matching

Re: Hot Toys The Last Jedi Rey 1/6 Figure

Yeah I noticed that as well. It doesn’t mean that Kylo isn’t extending his hand out to Rey, but those particular scenes don’t look like they really match up even though they have similar lighting. It makes me wonder though who IS Kylo reaching out to? Looking forward to finding out.

So... they intentionally edited two different scenes together to deceive people? If true, that's kinda scummy tbh.

Why not just tease the new story directions (but not giving it away) without deliberately reordering unrelated material to set up something that's false?

Yeah, the scene at the end of the trailer with Rey does look like a campfire, I agree with that.
