I love it when the reality of increased pricing as the hobby has entered another stage on its way to imploding makes us get all philosophical and nostalgic.

I agree rubio, the 1/6 HT market is just another bubble that's going to burst.

Some times a bubble can be more like a balloon that had the air taken out of it, never know when it will be blown up again. About 14 years ago I bought a Thunder Cat Lion-O for about $20.00 still on the card. No intention of ever selling I looked to see what it was selling for about 12 years ago. It was worth about $60.00, no big deal. Yesterday at the SDCC my son, grandson and me bought the SDCC large exclusive Lion-O. And I ask my son what the old Lion-O was worth. He told me he recently check and it was going for $500. to $1000. on the card. He thought mines was open for some reason and I told him it was still on the card. He said, "What!" I started laughing and told him, it was buried in some box in my garage and I hadn't seen it in years. Going to have to look for it now, lol. Can really come in handy now with all this stuff coming from Hot Toys.

I wouldn't say that you're getting a Mk IV for only $140. You're getting it for $140 more. Big difference considering the only way you can get the "$140" Mk IV is by purchasing it with the $359.99 gantry. :monkey1

No one wants to say they are getting the gantry for "only" $290... :monkey1

I've just pointed out that it's pointless to whine about HT stuff being too expensive. I also pointed out you're crying over toys.

This is exactly the type of comment I have a problem with.:slap:slap:slap:slap:slap We should all be complaining about the price hikes. Most of us don't want to pay $300+ in the future for every release, but if we all sit back and act like it's okay, why wouldn't they keep increasing prices? HT has nothing without it's customers. Have you ever taken any sort of buisness class?

I agree with you 110%, but I'm sure everyone's complaining to themselves about how expensive these figures are becoming. The only thing dividing the population is that some complain but buy it anyway and some complain and still shell out the $$ for the over priced figures. It's a shame but it's reality.

Is the mark IV that comes with the gantry almost the same as the original mark IV that was released by itself? What are the key differences in the figures? Thanks in advance!

I don't have the Mark IV, so in ordering this I'm only getting the Gantry for $290!!!

I can see eBay being flooded with mk iv's at the end of the year.

I pre-ordered the gantry (and Jake sully) at BBTS, no deposit required and can cancel at anytime. Figured it was better to get in on this gear now, rather than regret it in 6 months and not be able to get it anywhere apart from the flippers on eBay.

I'll take this approach with most of SDCC stuff shown

For the love of god, I'll try to pre-order this one by getting the set and selling the Mark IV included since I already have that one plus the cost of the Gantry will be much cheaper compare to the stand-alone version.

Many people will be thinking like you and trust me, the price of Mk IV in the secondary market won't be the same as when the original Mk IV was when it was first released.

There will be many Mk IVs on eBay when this set starts shipping!

I think Hot Toys may have over done it for this diorama. The reason why it's so expensive is because they actually hired an engineering team to design the mechanics of this dio for Hot Toys. It's supposed to be the most complex thing HT has ever done with an insane number of articulations, but in reality most collectors would rather just get something that is much simpler and much cheaper, something that just looks the part, and use it as a display piece and that's about it.. All that engineering is a little unnecessary that just jacks up the price in the end..

The high cost I'd say comes from assembly, which has to be done by hand.... the more tiny parts the more tedious...

and how about another option.... USD 150 for unassemble/unpainted parts kit

Wow, I did not expect this from Hot Toys at all. Huge props to them for making something obscure, expensive and simply awesome. This gives me hope they'll release a 1/6 Queen Alien :drool.

Seriously, IMHO, the effort that HT put into this can be put to better use like going for the 1/6 Queen Alien or even a 1/6 Dropship (Aliens).

But with the amount of Iron Man stuff that HT pumps out and is continuing to pump out, I guess the Iron Man license is probably raking in the cash for them due to the market demand.

So we can expect more Iron Man from Hot Toys!!!!!!!!!

You need to take a business course to figure out money talks?

man I'm not even a big fan of 1/6 but this just speaks to me.
I think because I prefer the bigger statues and 1/4 premium format size things.

This thing at 40cm high and 60cm wide won't get lost on a shelf. Its an awesome display piece.

I've got it reserved at BBTS....leaning heavily toward buying....
