I think Hot Toys may have over done it for this diorama. The reason why it's so expensive is because they actually hired an engineering team to design the mechanics of this dio for Hot Toys. It's supposed to be the most complex thing HT has ever done with an insane number of articulations, but in reality most collectors would rather just get something that is much simpler and much cheaper, something that just looks the part, and use it as a display piece and that's about it.. All that engineering is a little unnecessary that just jacks up the price in the end..

In the end they make it very cheaply and when you try to actually use and pose this it will break. The mechanics will only work if the parts are made sturdy enough....and Hot Toys never does.

Maybe they are more delicate with their touch in Hong Kong

Wow, I love this thing.... but I was hoping it'd just be the price of a figure (maybe around $200 bucks or so) at this price... way too rich for my blood.

Many people will be thinking like you and trust me, the price of Mk IV in the secondary market won't be the same as when the original Mk IV was when it was first released.

There will be many Mk IVs on eBay when this set starts shipping!

Yeah, but me? I still won't sell my old Mark IV since it includes a lot of accessories (shades, donut, etc.). I'm just gonna try to part the new Mark IV included in the Gantry set to get the Gantry @ a much cheaper price. :wink1:

This machine reminds me very much of an industrial robot for making cars and such. Nothing I want to display. Rather save the money for the Iron Monger character or even the Stealth IM.

Re: Hot Toys MMS Iron Man Suit-Up Gantry with and w/o Mk

I wish I could find a way to justify the price tag on the gantry alone b\c this would make a neat piece to display with the rest of my I'M collection. Bottom line is that the price is absurd\laughable & joins the likes of the Medicom Daft Punk set. Offering the same Mark iv for a cheaper price is basically a kick in the groin for those who picked this up not long ago. Hot Toys couldn't have picked a worse time to unveil this set asking this price with so many awesome & incredible releases being showcased during SDCC.

You, sir, are completely correct.

While the Gantry looks nice, the most I would pay for it is about $150. That's just me and I know HT probably can't sell at that price without taking a loss. For the current retail price, this will not be missed in my collection.

what sucks is that people will pay this inflated price no matter what, so the prices will only go up, not down. i'm betting a $150.00 figure like captain america will be $200 next year.

This thing looks too cool...since I don't have Mark IV or any other IM figures yet make the price of this set more reasonable...

This pic from THX at SF really shows us how awesome this set is.
