If he tried to make a move to eliminate Sarah after he crashed the police would open fire on him. He had one gun left, low on ammo, could only see out of one eye, and had a damaged right arm because of an en lodged bullet.

Yes, I agree. I always thought that's why he did that. "If you can't pass for human you're not much good to us."

As for leaving the scene after the police arrived, that part is a little more difficult to make sense of. Because he was damaged and looked inhuman? He didn't leave after the truck ran him over and half his face was gone ("get out"), even though he looked inhuman, presumably because his target was within his range and killing his target was apparently more important than maintaining his cover. So I always wondered why he left when the police came. Best I can come up with is that his hand must have been damaged to the point that it was useless so repairs were absolutely necessary. Still makes you wonder why he didn't just hold the gun with his other hand.

OK, DiFabio, you and I are good at this sort of thing. Can we come up with an internally consistent explanation for why he left the scene after the police arrived?

Hmmm . . . maybe if the police had seen that he was a machine, it would blow his cover, but if some random truck driver saw it, it wouldn't matter as much?

You have to remember that the police are armed in numbers with shotguns(terminator doesnt like getting shot by shotguns, let alone a few at the same time...plus he was damaged too)
The truck driver was unarmed and on his own.

EDIT: DiFabio beat me to it!

Hmmm. Again, id have to disagree.
Theres just something about that huge M45 field jacket, complete with dog chain and leather patches with studs that I find more intimidating than a tight fitting leather jacket.
And I think he looks more intimidating when he doesnt wear glasses as you can see the determined look in his eyes...same goes for the T-1000 kinda.

well we can agree to disagree. they're both pretty intimidating, but i personally think the police shoot-out terminator is the most intimidating. still, i want a figure of both. :lol:peace

Same here, definitely.
The police shoot-out is my 2nd favourite look of all the terminators.
If HTs dont make it, I will cry my eyes out:monkey2
Same goes for a 1984 Reese.

That SWAT team opened fire pretty good on him in T2, didn't they? He waded through them like . . . well, the way that Kyle said he would wade through them.

The low on ammo part is good. Almost makes it work. Though he really doesn't need a gun (punches holes through chest).

There was a bullet in that arm? I never noticed that. I thought the arm was damaged from the car crash. I'll rewatch it for the one-thousandth time tonight. But I thought that his hyper alloy combat chasis, fully armored and very tough, was basically immune to small arms fire. "With these weapons . . . I don't know." If all those little gears and such could be damaged by regular firearms . . . he'd have been a lot easier to stop. But I'll rewatch tonight.

Or, he could have left for the purposes of pacing and dramatic effect. . .

Yeah, that too. I kind of lean towards this explanation. The first film is almost like a horror movie, so the mysterious disappearance of the villian is a stock move.

Oh, BTW . . . this figure is frickin' awesome! A dream come true for a guy who grew up watching The Terminator. Last night I was looking at him on my shelf, singing Burnin' in the Third Degree over and over again.

does anybody know where i can find a jacket to make a police station shootout terminator, i tried ebay but didnt find any black jackets that looked like that one.

Thanks, man.
This is the only stud that looks different to the originals to me.

Great idea, my friend!
Im going to do it to replace my missing stud on the back of my BD version.
Thanks for sharing.

Caught, but in real you can barely see the difference.
:)

Am I right in thinking that this is a stud?
If so, its not supposed to be there and could be used to replace your aluminium stud.

Quite funny, the stud came off there, seconds after I unpacked him.
I had him on my finger after I grabbed him and it was from there...

I guess this photo shows how great my idea works.
The other one was way to much full frontal.^^

Ouh and:

Here, here , here...
:wave

Yep, that works MUCH better now.
I wouldve had a very hard time finding it if thats how you first showed it.
I wouldnt have even noticed it from your fist pic either, had you not asked for me to look for a custom stud.

Great, so it´s save to say that I made a good job.
I knew this aluminium foil tape was worth it and I can use it in the future.
:)

The SWAT team that opened fire on Arnold in T2 had machine guns, it didn't even knock him back.

The 1984 police officers however had powerful shotguns and pistols. I can't remember exactly but their numbers may have been more than the small SWAT team that went into Cyberdyne.

The Terminator just slammed into a wall at high speeds, has a wounded eye that's completely shut (so it can only see out of one eye), a bullet ridden body with damaged arm (the arm is damaged and doesn't function properly, the hand/lower arm is useless until it fixes it), it also doesn't look "normal" due to the damage and burns.

Par that with the fact that it's pretty much out of ammo and it's not even going to get close enough to Sarah. Hell, the cops are ready to blow Reese away on the spot, what would they do to a "guy" that's not only stole an officer vehicle but is going to try and maim a young woman?

Blow him away. Now, we know it wouldn't destroy it but his infiltration disguise would be useless and everyone would know what it was.
