Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

You're looking at the increase one figure at a time. Sure it's a few bucks more than the last, but as I mentioned before I'm looking at the bigger picture here and where this market is going. Looking at the trend, so to speak. It's not about who can afford it, it's what people are willing to pay.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

No, I get what they are saying. What I read is "Hot Toys are greedy, this isn't worth this, I'm not buying it". Not "I really wish I could buy this, but I can't, the economy has priced me out". I just think if you can afford a $200 figure you can afford a $250 figure. If $50 is that big of a financial burden then why are you buying $200 figures to begin with?

I'm no economist but you know why they price items $19.99 instead of $20.00? Because $19.99 sounds cheaper. There is a ceiling a market can bear and sometimes the diffence can only be in a matter of pennies. That's just how it works.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

The sudden price increases remind me of my other hobby, diecast collecting. 1:18 scale cars from companies like Autoart that were $80 in 2008 are now $150+

Manufacturing costs have gone up but the main reason for the increases is that with specialty brands like Autoart or Hot Toys they know their product will sell no matter what. They may lose 10% of buyers each time they have an increase but in the end they make more money.

:goodpost:

We're being extremely picky in this household. Most people here know how much I love ScarJo and Black Widow but I'm not ordering her figure. Our PO list is very small compared to others. :)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

:exactly:

This post should be framed. :)

I'm not happy about the $250 price tag. If you told me a year or two ago I'd be paying $150.... let along $250-$400-some dollars (for figures like the Iron Monger) I'd say you're nuts. But I am now.

I don't think anyone likes the price increases, but anyone who thought Captain America was $200 and Iron Man would be anything less than this were just kidding themselves. I think most of us not crapping ourselves were just paying attention and being realistic. Doesn't mean we like it. :)

But, the reality is that at some point these price increases are going to start pricing more and more people out of getting these. I actually cancelled all my Avengers pre-orders except Loki because I just realized there was no way I could keep up. I'd love to have them all but I just can't do it financially. I will still get the Iron Man releases, but the rest... I just have to let go.

I tend to think more and more people will start to do that as costs (and final prices) go up. I tend to think we're at the height of releases for 1/6 figures. I really don't think this pace and this range of characters can be kept up in the long term.

i think they are raising the prices on items which they can sell no matter what, anyways going by the current trend, looking at the items that have come out since HT chris reeves, if u are a but patient u could score some of these maybe excpet the exclusives at pretty much very below the retail prices, just check the prices on some recently released HT items on ebay, some with even free shipping,

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Yep. The bubble is going to burst any moment.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

i think since the predators release , nothing much has risen in price value, infact most are goind down with even many selling own MISB collections, just a matter of being patient, i have stopped pre ordering HT except when there is a exclusive involved like Joker dx 12 and this mark 7

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

This argument has happened before and it will happen again, probably on the very next pre-order item revealed.

Hot Toys is going to charge what they are going to charge. All we can do as consumers is either buy it or don't.

For me, if they were cheaper, I'd have the whole Avengers team on pre-order right now without hesitation. Instead I have select ones only. My wallet has spoken.

Did you go after Fury, Hawkeye or SWAT Gordon? All of those are virtually sold out prior to release. We don't know the edition numbers so we can only speculate on what will become harder/more expensive to obtain post-release.

They'll be back again, Batman sold out and then cam back for a few months, Babydoll sold out and it now back again

For someone chasing quick value increases that's bad news. For those who want a hassle-free way to get the figures, additional numbers are fantastic.

I think they've upped their production number to not allow a figure to sell out fully for a set time after release, probably to combat the 'i missed out on this and now it's too expensive please remake it' comments from news fans

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

The problem is tha some customers - myself included - pay anything HT ask because they really want some carachters in their shelfs, despicting the price.

Another thing is that, in Brazil, stores sell this babys for U$ 500,00 or US$ 750,00.

I can order through ebay and pay US$ 300,00.

For me, is a good deal every same purchase.

Just got a Rescue Captain America for 300 bucks. I´m extremely happy, because the only store (pre)selling him is charging US$ 800,00.

I just save 500 bucks, if you follow my point...

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

glad we get interchangeable mask but should include tony hs in a mask at this price ...

CSC has stll about 10 fury left, when it comes in stock, ull probably see Ebay flooded with these 2, gordon i can understand , its a exclusive

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

People complain left and right about this and that - "oh RDJ head is not right" or "price too costly" or whatever. If you don't like it, don't buy. If you like it, buy. Stop _____ing!!!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

even the predators were sold out at stores like CSc but then they kept coming back in stock,
