So disappointed I didn't get the email. I assumed this would go up as a priority preorder with an announcement of the date by email, not a secret link. Although I didn't need to spend the $300 (already have the Mark Vii paid off), I still wanted a shot at this figure.

Thanks for nothing, Sideshow.

So I haven't been following the thread. Is there any indication of the fading issue? If there is, I guess I'll go with the new die cast but from what I understand, that has issues as well

The undies are presummed to be plastic, like the Mark V. Which makes sense.

Did you go to the SS website and sign up for updates?
They sent out a generic email about products(Last week i think), and one of the links in the Email was to sign up for info on when to pre-order the BD MKVII.
I signed up and was luckily at my PC last night when the email came in.
I'd say that because i was already logged in to SS, maybe 25 seconds elapsed between me getting the email and clicking "pre-order".
I *never* expected to be able to get in line for one of those things. I already have the MKVII on order, but the BD one looks too cool not to take the opportunity.
I have checked this thread first before the BD one, but i see it has grown by 14 full pages overnight...
I have the forum set to display 40 posts per page, so that means that the 6 hours i was asleep, there have been at least 560 posts in that thread. And my email keeps rattling about new posts.
I expect all it will be is:

1: "It's too expensive!"
2: "Dang! I missed out!"
3: "I got mine ordered!"
4: "I can't believe it sold out so fast! I will never buy another Hot Toys figure again!"

But.
Back to the standard MKVII.
Anyone here reading this seen Iron Man Three and feel jazzed about this release when seeing the MKVII in the movie?
I love the fact that the MKVII is Tony's "car" when he's going out.

Fingers crossed but I have still yet to see any significant fading on any of my figures including the original Mark III. I have always attributed it to how little light I live by including never letting in any sunlight. But, I have heard some people open a figure that's never been opened and it has the fading issue so I don't know.

+1

As much as I want to, fact is I do not have that kind of money where I buy two 'types' of one figure. I prefer the clean version, BD maybe for 30 days in a year.

The only thing I wish I could get was the BD base, pretty sure it'll be going for $100+ on eBay July onwards. :monkey3

I agree with that, but the open faceplate is a must for me...I'll just pick it off the bay

I was so excited at seeing it standing there that the only thing that would have made it cooler was if Tony had aimed a remote at it, and the armour made that chirping *unlock* "eee-ooo" that cars all make in movies.

Yeah! :lol

Stark could beep on a "car" off-screen then when he approaches it, we find out it's the Mk VII

But we'll probably have movie critics complaining over the need for a remote.

:lol

Perhaps.
I could be mistaken, but i am sure he said "open" as he approached it...
Those are the kinds of things i pick up on second time around.

Now that you mentioned it, I think I remember him doing that,
but maybe I'm just having hindsight bias..

I was just watching it again,
and he mumbles: "I gotta check my suit". With no warning, it opens up. I am sure it will recognise he's in the vicinity

Can always use the mark VI one as well.

I have some spares of the MKII AU empty head. I am thinking of colour coding one to the MKVII and having it on display empty with the faceplate up.
