The custom posts and ideas are good. Unfortunately the Marvel section does not have a customs sub thread due to lack of projects. So it's all smashed together which can clog up figure talk and can lead to nit pick fights. In other forums there may be a custom thread for the IM head and that talk would be housed in there instead of the main thread.

Other sections like Star Wars, GI joe and DC have more diorama work that lends more to a customs section which is very lacking on Marvel as well.

Yeah from time to time I check the other sections and there are awesome customs, for now the only customs I care about are related to the Marvel figures and you are right, it would be nice to see some diorama work here.

As far as I know the only diorama work made by someone here was a Hall of armor, and it was impressive

Fixed your sentence.:lol

Not fanning flames here, but Rory is very active contributor and much more on other threads outside of marvel. He is very skilled at customizing figures, check his thread and you'll see a marvelous collection of customized HT figures. He does have great suggestions and helps members on things much more than most know.

The rub on Barry is coming from way back when he started. He was in DC "the bat" thread daily pumping it up saying he could build it easily and a lot of new folks were fawning.
He was posting his workshop YT vid any chance he got. When the gantry came out he was over here chirping to build the avengers version. He does post a lot on many threads and is more vocal than most on what he is going to build. It's his volume of attempts vs the output that Rory alluded to that sent him over the edge. Barry is a nice guy, but it can come across as attention grabbing sometimes.

His frustrations I think are more so coming from this Marvel section. The newer members lately are young Marvel fanatics geeked up from the movies and they are definitely a different breed outside of say DC and other threads. People in here think HT makes perfect figures and to post negative comments of the figures are dismissed as people crying. The marvel board in general is filled with fodder posters.

The DC board and other boards are much more mature and easy going. The threads are filled with people that accept HT figures as flawed and they help to correct the issues on the figures. They don't ***** at each other they all try to fix the issue and not deny it is there like this iron man figure with the eyes and mouth on its head. Visit any Batman or custom DC thread and you will see this is true. They all would be trying to fix it.

I am beginning to understand why so many folks from the DC section never venture over here. Just my observation.

:peace

Yet another reason I respect and like reading your posts Hokietwo. You are straight up and, you know how to troll folks and poke fun at folks and yet still keep it all in fun. IMO, there are some that just take themselves too seriously. Maybe they were too sheltered or isolated as children...."sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me."...:rotfl.

BTW.. I ****ing love my Dollie collection!:yess:

PS: I like the new Micheal Douglas avatar....Hell if I am going to get throat cancer, I sure as hell would rather get it eating *****, then smoking cigarettes...which I think Micheal did a lot of both...:lol

back on topic sorta... I'm enjoying seeing how little improvements to the head and neck of this fig can make such a difference! I'm looking forward to my mark 7 arriving to decide what I want to do to mine. I'm comfortable making minor mods so I think I will def by doing something with the eyes.

btw, I also agree that it would be cool to have a customs section. I for one really enjoy seeing custom and modded figs. I'm tempted to follow in CREG customs steps and do a proper battle damaged war machine...

Hehehe I am glad you got my avatar. :lol gotta be greedy with something.

I just went back to the beginning of the thread to see who first mentioned the eyes.
The award goes to Spanbauer. He called it in July last year.
Anyone who thinks complaining to HT now will make a difference, good luck with that, lol.
Yay! What do I win? :lol

Can anyone recall the last time Hot Toys improved the accuracy of a figure from prototype to final product? These days I just have to assume that what they show is what I'm gonna get, so if I'm unhappy with the prototype I'm not willing to pre-order and expect the final product to be any better.

They have changed the Tony Stark head on the Armour Test figure.

Wow how long did it take you to find that single post? :lol

The eye issue is quite saddening to see since it makes you wonder how they can take a step back with something like the eyes. Heck it would have been easier if they just kept the same eye shape from the Mark 6.

I'm currently sculpting a face plate with the correct eye size but getting the smaller details on the face plate such as the small screw details may lead me to just recast the original Mark VII faceplate with the eye mod applied to it.

Still, this is something that we shouldn't have to go through the trouble of doing. :monkey2

About an hour. It's about 40 pages into the thread, lol.
It's funny to "go back i time" and see what ideas people have for the figure before it's even up for pre-order.
Of course there are about 25 pages of people complaining about it not being up for pre-order yet(And then about 10 pages of people glad they got on the list finally).

Looking forward to seeing your faceplate.
Post WIP pics as you go if you can.

Did SS start shipping these out yet? Was wondering if I should call them tomorrow to move up my flex pay date or not.

Okay, stupid question... would the mark IV or VI faceplate fit on the mark VII head ? Because if it did, it would seem like an easier fix than resculpting the eyes and mouth portion.
:dunno

i was thinking the same too regarding that. what if the neck joints of the mark IV or VI just get swapped with VII ? i dunno if i sound like a noob saying that or maybe the neck joints don't fit.

I post on both the Marvel and DC side. Actually it's really only these 2 mark vii threads that are so intense and filled with all kinds of drama. Guaranteed at least once a week there is some argument that will break out. I really want everyone to get along, but I can't help but be fascinated by all the disagreements that happen here. We all share a common love/hate relationship with HT. I'm just thankful that I have an outlet to talk about this crazy obsession. Honestly, how often do you get to talk about HT in real life?
Given that, I enjoy seeing Username's mods and his creative process as I will enjoy Rorywan's when I see them. I'm too scared and lack the talent to do such mods myself, so I vicariously live through the modding process with these pictures. I could care less about what people's intentions are. If you take the time, energy, and money to mod a piece to your liking and/or take commissions and post pics, good on you! It diversifies the thread from love/hate tirades on the figure. Pages of "where are the pics" & "why not out yet" get a little old. So, thank you Username, Rorywan, and any other modders out there that spice up these threads. I appreciate the work I've seen and can't wait to see what you guys come up with next.

Man..would really love that Stark Tower dio.

Along with that wine glass :lol
