Straight repaint won't work because it has the rivets all over. But HT should (and will) re-release an updated Mark III, that is probably a minor modification of that Mark II.

oh yeah, I forgot about the rivets. :slap

I have to say, I do love my Mark IV Gunmetal. It very slick looking in the collection.

It doesn't help the fact that many products are released in small quantity nowadays. And then ebay reseller gets a good portion of it and sell for profits.

When I think of the value of this figure in the future, I can only compare it to the Mark VI Avengers Movie, which is still rising in demand and was retailed at $195. Once it was released I remeber it going for about $400 after it sold out. Now, just saw one go for $660 on ebay the other day.

The BD Mark VII Avengers Promo seems to have a lot more buzz than the Mark VI Promo, due to the BD look, the stand, & new headsculpt of RDJ. This figure sold out in a couple of hours on Sideshow while the Mark VI took a couple of days. (Now, one could make the argument that a lot of buyers were only buying with the intent to sell the figure later on, which would lower the price.)

So, if you can get this figure for $500, personally I think that's a good deal. Saw a couple already sell for $700+. The only way the value of this figure will drop is if Hot Toys does a 2.0 Version or a diecast version. But I'm projecting this figure to be going for about $800-$900 this time next year.

:lecture

Even if HT do eventually revisit this one, they're never going to tell people until it's ready to go.
Then, and ONLY then, will the secondary market cost of the BD drop.
It's only the "I have to buy this NOW before it sells out!" factor that makes HT sell out in the first place.
And once you have been collecting for a while. You realise you have to jump on these things as soon as you can to avoid missing out.

I don't believe anyone has yet, but there will probably be some once the figure is ready to ship from Sideshow *hugs*

Heh, I'm still a little dazed that I picked one of these up so comparatively easy, fannying about on my phone while trying to get the kids ready for school and me ready for work!
All the talk of $700-$800 dollar values down the line make me smile, I bought it 'cos I want it, but nice to know I can use it to insure both my cars next year if needed!

Hmmm, still got to pay for the feckr in the meantime. :horror

I talked to Sideshow. The only way Canadians could get it is if they used a US address in the first release. There will be no other releases going up. Canada is SOL.

Sorry bro, that's not cool. Don't know why they would do that :dunno

Probably the same reason that they don't care that the preorder email didn't go out to all of their customers...especially those who have ordered literally hundreds of items from them.

I contacted Sideshow about this email business. Why some got them and why some didn't on both presales. Europe and US. I got this "cut and paste" reply, which I can neither confirm or deny...

"Dear ........,
Thank you for your email. We appreciate your interest in our products and the time you took to contact our Customer Service Department.

I am very sorry that you were not able to place an order for the figure. Way back in April, there was a banner on our website that provided a link to sign up for information on that figure.
Customers entered their email address there and when we were able to accept orders, an email was sent to the collectors on the list.

Please let me know if I can assist you further!
Best regards,
Kathy Harter

Makes me wonder if some who didn't get the email simply forgot to sign up for that IM3 list. I don't know how closely affiliated this forum is with SSC but it would be cool if SSC gave us a link to po (exclusively for this forum) before even sending that email out. Wishful thinking I guess.

That could be right. I recall about a week before the preorder happened, seeing the link to be kept up to date with that specific item being available.
I signed up.
And I definitely got the email.

I signed up twice to make sure I DIDN'T miss it. I did get it. But it was checking this forum FREQUENTLY and daily is how I learned of the sale. :hi5:

I am sure there is some reason for it, even if it was just a plain mistake.
I don't think anyone can phone up sideshow and complain about it.
We were talking about it here on the forum when it went up.
Wasn't there a guy on here who got ten of them?
He might sell them in the marketplace when they are released.
