I'm so buying a New Mac Pro with the profit this guy is going to net me (3). That's really the whole reason I got that many TBH. Nice figure and all, but the prices this thing is fetching are ridiculous. I'd be a fool not to do it, and I really don't see anything wrong with that.

Unless you live in Canada ( I know wasn't offered there) you had the chance to preorder.
Use your smartphone, they help. Get push notifications and add sideshow to your VIPs or whatever. Make technology work for you, otherwise keep missing out.

And yes, no one is forcing you to pay scalpers.

If you got one, and are a true collector that doesn't care about profit, good for you. That's admirable.

My two cents.

Out.

Well, those armors were sold out long ago. It's not the same as buying all the stock of something new that just came out so you can sell for a profit and make it harder for people who really want it to get it.

Just got mine!!

I think there is a big difference between people who originally buy a collectible with the intention of selling it and a collector selling an item he orginally planned on keeping, but because of demarnd decides to sell it and put that money back into him collection.

And no one is forcing anyone to pay any amount for anything. And selling this for whatever its going for, is no different than selling a Blade for $400.

So if no one is forcing anyone to pay any amount for it, does that mean that people who can't afford them can get them for free, like pro bono services from lawyers for people who cannot afford it?

I did not know people did that. That must be nice to be rich enough to buy collectibles just to give them away to those who missed out on buying.

Your question makes no sense at at. What does getting this for free, a la your pro bono remark, have to do with me saying no one is forcing a collector to pay a 2 or 4 times retail for a piece if they choose to?

And I wouldn't know what being rich is either, but I can afford to buy a few collectibles.

I don't mean this as an insult, but did you misunderstand my post? Your comments almost have no relation to it.:dunno

If the person wants that collectible, then the person will be forced to pay 2 to 4 times retail unless they get it for free. If they want it, they are forced to pay more, unless someone else buys it with the intention of giving it to them.
No one is forcing someone to WANT to have a certain collectible, but scalpers do FORCE people to pay more if they want to get it.

Sure, the company forces people to pay, too, but scalpers force people to pay more, unless they sell it for what they paid.

Are people showing any respect or concern for fellow collectors when they "buy to flip?" No. But these are expensive toys. They serve no utilitarian purpose. People don't actually need them. You can't eat them, or live in them, or use them to heal wounds. Anyone who buys these for jacked up prices on the secondary market is a collector who wants a pretty new toy to put on a shelf, nothing more. You can't "exploit" someone in this scenario by refusing to sell them your toy for less than $X. Equating terms like "profiteering," "exploitation" and "injustice" to this process cheapens those situations where they actually occur. If I was tricking some elderly folks living off Social Security into buying these, then sure. . .
Injustice is a relative thing. There are degrees of it.

How are they forcing anyone to pay?

I started collecting HT late in the game. I wanted a DX02 like you have no idea. eBay was the only place, and there was a time that it was almost $800 to get one. At the end, my ADULT self decided that there was no way in hell I'd pay that much for a toy.

None of the sellers threatened my life if I didn't buy from them. Let alone forced me.

I never got a DX02. I'm glad I didn't.

They either force them to pay or prevent them from getting it without paying. Same thing.

While true, justice isn't THAT relative. justice refers to a higher cause. Justice is a concept of altruism. You can apply it to a situation like buying a toy, but you'd be bastardizing the term while doing so.

I've not prevented anyone from getting it that didn't have the same opportunity as myself, I even contacted other members of the board to try and ensure they could get one as I knew how much they wanted it.

I don't see why I should now pass it on at retail now just because I am no longer in a position to keep it. I will sell it at market price.

So how much you selling it for? ;)

I bought it to keep it. To buy it to sell it would be stupid. You buy something because you want it, otherwise don't buy it. It would be a waste of my time to go through the trouble to buy something just to part with it.

If I want money, I earn money, by doing what provides value.

Scalping is beneath me, and I refuse to tarnish my soul or my character by being involved with it. I have principles. Principles are what separates humans from animals. Animals only care about taking opportunities. Human beings have ideals, which is the most fundamental thing that separates us from the animals. Without principles, humans are no better than animals.

Still gotta open it.

You shouldn't. People see it as a bad thing because they more than likely didn't get one.

Good luck selling yours!
