Nice pics, chev. So what's your camera/lens setup?

Nikon D3200. I got a really cool bundle package. With a Telephoto lens, and a few other things.

The reason I went with this one is because they have a Guide mode which helps newbies out. I really want to learn to do it on my own, so any advice will help.

I started with that camera as well. You should invest in a prime lens as well!

Go with the 35mm lens. It takes awesome pics. I have the same camera and it makes a big difference vs the lens that it comes with.

Ok, I'll see what I can find. Does it have a specific name or just called 35mm lens? I did get a Wide angle lens with the camera. It also came with filters too. It's a nice camera for a beginner.

If your looking for a pure black background, like you see alot of bloggers post; my first attempts yielded your result; the trick is to get your ironman far from the black back ground (mine is usually 5-7ft behind iron man) and the camera is then another 5ft in front of iron man, shut the lights out; and stage lights pointing at the iron man, like a 45 degree from 2 directions, you can use an over head light for some additional highlighting; then put it in (P)rogram mode; drop the ISO low, like 100 (my sony does a multiframe shot 7 frames and combines them to produce a low noise photo) nikon should do something similar, im sure, drop the exposure (e.g. -1.0 to -2.0) and use your telephoto lens to zoom in all the way (150-200mm); this will blur out the wrinkles and any light bouncing off your black back ground to create a solid background... see examples below, my black bed sheet looks just like yours but from the photos you can't tell; hope that helps :)

Cool! I got my DSLR a few years ago and love it. I'm a Canon man but my buddy likes Nikon.

Some good advice about that 35mm prime lens from the Freaks. Spend the extra cash and get a few really good lenses along the way. You'll enjoy your camera even more with nice glass on it.

I'm also a Nikon man and currently using the Coolpix L82 my wife got me last X-Mas. I like especially like its zoom & macro capabilities. :wave

Yeah, good lenses make a huge difference. What does Macro mean? My Telephoto lens has a switch on it that you can turn to macro.

Macro photography is for taking pictures of smaller objects such as these toys and things like insects. Here's a pic of a mantis I took a few weeks ago in Macro setting. :wave
