HT makes em plastic, people whine they aren't heavy enough. HT makes em diecast heavy, people whine they ain't plastic enough. :lol

My main gripe is it was a minority of people needing their toys (that they dont play with or fly around, basically just sit on a shelf) to feel heavier for some reason. then they jack the price on them... not by much, but by enough.

I agree with you. I don't care if they're made out of recycled Wheat Thins boxes as long as they look great on my shelf :lol

do you guys want to start a club?

True, but for me the diecasts have a floating torso look, skinny mid-section and gap filled underwear section which is cause by the extra clearance needed to prevent metal contact and paint damage. Yes they have improved articulation but again for ME that's not a bonus if the result is a reduction in aesthetics. As far as soft detailing, it's stuff like panel lines, edges of panels etc. which due to being metal casts need to be round slightly to prevent sharp edges and chipping when paint is applied. Whereas plastic can be as sharp as needed as it's molded in the colour needed. Soft detailing is minor compared to the gaps everywhere, bit again these are all MY personal feelings, and I have no problem with more diecasts being made and welcome them for others to buy. I just dont feel the lost aesthetics and detail are worth the price just to gain extra weight and some articulation points.

I agree with a lot of your points and that was a major reason i was originally against Diecast but i think the floating torso, skinny midsection, etc is how it looked in the movie. I think it would look mostly the same if it was plastic. I respect your opinion but i honestly do not see any loss in aesthetics on the shelf, if there is it's small. I'll admit it does look worse if you pull the midsection and hips out.

Clearly, the suit used in the movie needs to be made in plastic as well :lecture

It wasn't metal anyway..if a metal cap shield was to heavy for walking around no way they do a body suit that way. Plus, metal is way harder and more expensive to work, and remember they do multiple copies of each suit, to work in different scenes and with actors and stunt doubles and full suits just for display, Ect...so not metal anyway.

It was sarcasm dude...

What just happened there...

Motu thought hed school Yanke using common knowledge, and didnt get that yankees comment was in jest...

Ill also add that the suits used in the movie - though being part plastic- were dominantly CGI, therefore Hot toys needs to find a way to make a toy CGI for 100% accuracy... (motu, this is sarcasm, no need to school me)

I i i... Know what happened its just... It was clearly a joke... I don't know how it could've came across otherwise...

I know that it was. Does that make anything I said any different? I said what I did in case anyone was unaware of how the movie suits where constructed, and it wasn't just directed toward what you said my friend. There where several recent and even more earlier comments, about the difference in metal vs plastic construction and how metal was more "realistic" and closer to the movie look/feel or vise versa.

well now youve met Motuxmen... enjoy

It's interesting how I make a general comment about the film or figure, and you comment about me, and somehow I'm the one misreading social cues and being rude. I find that interesting, and telling.

I agree with you on Iron Patriot, the design of the suit lessens the effect of the diecast, my real problem is with the Mark 42 but was using the Patriot as it has already been released. And your right the difference isn't massive and in your face, it's subtle but something I see whenever I look at them and that would bug the hell out of me if I was looking at them everyday. I'm not against diecasts but I'm against buying them myself (although I have the 42 on pre-order cause I can't cancel it, will be selling when it arrives tho). I pre-ordered hoping HT may fix all the clearance issues but doesn't look like they have from the up-comming release picture.

I just want to point out these our my opinions not fact and I'm not trying to put anyone off diecasts or telling anyone to not get them. I'm purely saying I personally don't want them and if I was given the choice between the same suit in diecast or plastic I would go for plastic. Things may change in the future as HT got better with diecast but atm my OCD won't let me overlook the issues, as minor as they may seem.

So please enjoy your figures, I'm not dissing them or asking anyone to defend their purchases just merely discussing my opinions on diecast vs plastic with other collectors.

:lol This forum is hilarious

Anybody getting 2 of these for repaints afterwards and IF so, what armor? color?

IM repaints that are done well are pretty rare from what I've seen on this forum. I can remember maybe one that was done okay, the rest bomb completely. There are high end customizers who participate at the Asian IM conventions/competitions that put together amazing variants but those are rare too.
