I'd kill for a Royal Guard!
Review_EmperorsRoyalGuardTVC_stillC.jpg

But I think Play Arts Kai would be better.

I'm still very undecided whether I need this for my collection at this point. I feel like if I don't get it now I'll be kicking my self when I have to pay after market prices later on down the line.

Prices are high and getting high. I get it. I have made adjustments to my collecting. I can afford only two figures a year BD Robocop and Chewcacca (and that is $600+) which is ridiculous for two figures. So figures like SS R2 D2, Neca Queen Alien, HT BD T1, Robocop had to be passes for me. Future HT Obi Wan, Han Solo are so far out of reach that they are beyond being even “tempted” to make the purchase. SS Hoth Luke and Han I have to put in the “I don’t care anymore” category. Prices have caused me to develop a thick skin and make “black or white” decisions. There is no more grey area.

That being said I don’t get the people who buy a Black Stormtrooper (who’s not even in a ****ing movie) and say “yeah I’ll get it to a “Spacetrooper”. No that’s what I call disposable mother****ing income!!!

Word!!!

Spacetroopers have been neglected for far too long.

And I always assumed they just carried normal ST blasters. Is there any reference material for the big rifle that is included with the HT figure?

The Hasbro toy had some large silly 'space' gun. I think HT just threw in the Sandtrooper gun because they had it.

After doing some research, I'm finding that there doesn't seem to be very conclusive evidence for what exactly was on their backs in space. Every toy -- the 3 that have been made -- has a different backpack.

:tap You must unlearn what you have learned. :lol

Looks good - needs an accompanying Joe Johnston head sculpt though, so..

It's a fail HT. :huh

If this had the Joe Johnston head it would have been a no brainer. Honestly most people don't even know this figure exists or think it's expanded universe. Sucks because I'm attending SW celebration and was hoping for something exclusive... but alas, I'll have to pass. My 4 detolfs have limited space to what I envision, and a space trooper just doesn't have any place in it, not without a cool Joe Johnston head to give it some talking points.

All the screen caps and behind the scenes outfit fittings indicate that they just carried the standard trooper sidearm. As much as I'd like them to be 100% screen accurate I must admit that I like the giant "space rifle." It just seems to fit.

The Spacetroopers have one of the most memorable shots in the movie. People love Yakface -- can you even find him at the bar?

I can understand people saying "my budget is tapped out, I'm just going to have to stick with the classic Stormtroopers" or whatever. But being surprised that HT made badass looking troopers that were actually in the movie or thinking that that's lame? Crazy. :lol

This will be the first time I have been at a convention (Celebration) where HT was doing an exclusive. Does that mean that Hot Toys, or Sideshow will have some on hand stock to sell at the actual convention...as in you take it home with you that day, or is it like every other pre order where you place it and wait 6 months?

Also how is it considered a Celebration Exclusive when Sideshow is going to sell them for "people who couldn't attend" anyway?

Agreed.

A lot of peoples 'likes' about ANH have been formed by those blasted Kenner/Hasbro toys unfortunately.

Yeah it's like if the merchandise ran with a character back in the day then they just take precedent over everything. Who can even find SNAGGLETOOTH, one of the "big 20" from Kenner's early line-up in ANH? I heard the card art is based off an alien from the Holiday Special.

And then there's Aurra Sing, which is apparently a totally viable character to make into multiple Hasbro figures, a Sideshow PF, novels, cartoons, etc. Why do we even know her NAME? She's just an extra who leaned over a railing for one second. :lol

YES! Totally getting this. From the time I was a wee lad, seeing ANH, I fell in love with the 'Spacetroopers' after their split second of screen time greeting the Millenium Falcon to the Death Star. I said to myself, 'Self, one day I will own a 1/6 scale figure of those guys.' Looks like that time has finally come. Thanks Hot Toys!

how much do they pay you? lolzz

sorry dudes, a space trooper is neat but not going on the quintessential collector's display shelf. A completest perhaps, or a mix bag random shelf, but not seeing it work. cool figure, just doesn't do it for me. An AT-AT driver as a follow up to the Tie Pilot on the other hand would've been amazing.

It's okay if you can't afford the Spacetrooper kiddo. There's nothing wrong with that. I understand that you're going with the classic troopers and that that's all you could get. What if I said I could get you reinstated as a true fan of Star Wars? And that Sideshow has agreed to pick up your NRD? If you preorder the Spacetrooper? Yes, if you preorder.

It's not a Sandtrooper gun. Or better is a mix of two Sandtrooper guns: T-21 for the main structure, RT-97C for the "scopes" on top. Unless someone knows better I don't think this is an existing weapon. The Hasbro one should be a T-21 variation.

lolz u got me, I'll take 6.

Two to point at me while I type on the forums to reaffirm that I am the man, and the other 4 to kitbash into muppet troopers to show how current and cool I am to this collective community. People will agree, I'm probably the best thing since Evilface.
