Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

I'm in 100% agreement, if you mean newer as in the model number. My favorite suit since IM3 is the Mk. 15 Sneaky. Granted that it's not going to release until the end of the year, but it is an "older" design (a suit Stark made in between Avengers 1 & IM3). It's just so cool looking and unique that it's stayed my all time favorite and was so happy when HT announced it! To me, newer means the actual model number, not release date. Still love both the 45 & 46 though and am stoked that the 45's release is just around the corner!

aesthetically i'm liking the newer armors more than the older ones. except for the 43.. i think the 42 looks better because of the color. i'm not the biggest fan of the overall design for that armor. i still like it, but it's lower on the list. so, the 42 with the mostly gold scheme makes it more interesting to me because it's a little more unique. but the 45 and 46 have just blown the rest out of the water, in my opinion of course. they make the older armors look a little more vanilla. i'm not saying that i dislike them, just that i prefer the looks of the newer ones.

i too really like sneaky. i love that it's clearly designed after stealth fighter jets/bombers. that really appeals to me. the only problem with sneaky are the lower legs. i just really dislike the bellbottom look. if the lower legs were different it would be an absolute must-buy. but right now, i think i'm going to skip it unless they also decide to do the disco armor.

i didn't want to go all in on the house party armors. so, the shot in the movie when the armors first show up, it's heartbreaker in the center flanked by starboost and shotgun.. so i picked up both starboost and heartbreaker, and shotgun should arrive next week. if i wanted to expand i would pick up centurion and snapper. i like centurion and all, but i just feel that it didn't translate all that well to figure form. it's weird. i love the way it looks in the movie, but the figure itself just seems a little off and i don't know why. anyways. the pair next to centurion and snapper are sneaky and disco. so, since i like sneaky so much, i'll pick it up if we also get disco (i'm a bit of a stickler for symmetry). or hey, maybe the 4th quarter this year will be lighter than i anticipate and i'll get sneaky anyways.

i wonder how likely disco is. i'm not 100% familiar with it, but i know they have a decent amount of the molding already made.. right?

No, TFA was set in WW2 and came out right before Avengers. TIH and Thor also overlap with IM2.

yeah, but they ended captain america chronologically, didn't they? him waking up not too long before avengers begins.

so, i couldn't see them doing a spider-man movie with it ending prior to civil war. i could've seen that if it was coming out prior to civil war. but not the way it's laid out at this point.

but hey, what do i know?

As far as I recall, this discount was offered 3 times in last 1.5 year. Last time on 1st of April 2016. And also on 22nd of October 2015. Hopefully, eBay keeps offering this discount. Last time it was offered - on 1st of April 2016 - it was only active for 8 hours. The only reason I was made aware of this discount being active was thanks to hotukdeals.com website which I check on daily basis. If you do not know this website I truly recommend it.
Yeah, it's a great site - ironically it's actually cost me a fortune over the years (when I had spare cash before I started spending it all on 1/6 figures!). It's where I found out about the code, just too late unfortunately...

yeah, this thing looks great. i still prefer the 45.. but they both have their merits. this one is so nice, clean, and refined, it looks great. plus, those lights are very impressive. plus, the diecast really does help swallow the price. in person when holding a normal figure in one hand and a diecast version in the other.. it's no question which one feels better. i mean, the diecast ones feel like they're double the value of the normal ones.

So would you buy the 45 if it was all plastic, same features and $75 cheaper?

Now if only you can tell a difference between diecast and plastic when their own display

or what parts of a diecast figure is really diecast and what parts are plastic.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

Do you think this is a good jumping on point for Iron Man figures ?

The 46? Yeah it's w nice looking armor and it could possibly be one of the last ones we'll see. The price point is daunting but if you can afford it I don't see why not.

Just remember tho that the Diecast will add a sense of worth which shouldn't be the case and it shouldn't detract from earlier plastic releases.

I would've loved to have gotten into HT Iron Man figures from the jump, or at least with the Mk4. But I was younger n wouldn't have had the money anyway. If we're talking in terms of the art of the figures, the engineering, the headsculpts, articulation, etc., then I would think this is a good a time as ever to get into it. It's definitely more pricey now though so there's also that to consider.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

So would you buy the 45 if it was all plastic, same features and $75 cheaper?

absolutely. the shotgun iron man should arrive to my house by monday or tuesday, and he's all plastic.. and costs $285.

for me, the diecast, on these figures, is a bonus. sometimes for other toys diecast can be pretty unnecessary.. like all of the diecast used for takara's mp-01/04 optimus prime. but i think the diecast for these figures is really great. if i had to choose from (hypothetically) a normal mark 7 for $250 and a diecast mark 7 for $350.. i'd choose the diecast.

the only negative i've found with the diecast is that it limits the use of the stands, flight poses in particular tend to either be sacrificed. so, i like that they've kept the house party figures plastic. but diecast for the main armors works out well. they look great, and most importantly they feel great in hand.

now, if they started pricing non diecast figures at the $350 price point, then i probably wouldn't be as happy with the all plastic versions.

Damn it looks good in that video

yeah it does. i like that the hands are more unique than we usually see with the main armors.

I was thinking it as possibly being my only Iron Man figure. Knowing that he will be in more movies.

You can use flight stands. i had my war machine mark II on one for a few months with no issues but i was VERY careful about it. I have all the IM diecast figures so far and if i had to sell them all tomorrow and keep only one it would be between my Mark 6 and 7. The diecast just adds weight and i don't handle them that much so it doesnt mean anything to me. I just like the suits, does not really matter if it's plastic, diecast, paper or carbon fiber as long as it looks good. But that's just me.

My favorites are the mark 6 and 43 and I don't mine mark 45.

Just weighing in... :lol

If I had to choose between a cheaper plastic figure to a more expensive Diecast with both having the same quality minus the materials. Any day of the year I'll pick the cheaper plastic.

In the end these are display pieces to me and the added weight just doesn't do anything for me

Is there going to be a plastic version of this figure?

Is there going to be a plastic version of this figure?

Most likely not.

The closest is the power pose figure but that one has limited articulation and not the full movement that this one offers.
