Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

This figure isn't coming out for a year and a half. It wont sell out before then. At least see the film, you might not even like it in action, who knows! No reason to rush right now. At the very least in a few months you can order it with a $20 coupon.

Even though I have a list as long as my arm from this film its exactly what I am doing, got bitten by ordering certain figures from The Force Awakens which I wouldn't have until the sequel if I had watched it first (Phasma) and with sequels not too far away is why some figures from Civil War will likely drop off of the list of priorities.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

Are there any differences between the diecast and plastic iron mans? Other than the fact that some parts are metal?

I think the main difference, and if I am wrong someone will quickly correct me here, is that other than some external parts being metal there are parts of the articulation which have been implemented differently like a disguised button which drops the legs and parts of the area round the hips is designed to move to allow for greater range of motion in the legs.

Other than that between my Mark 3 and 43 which are die cast and my Python and Silver Centurion which are plastic I can't really tell the difference be is aesthetics or features.

The 1/4 scale has that and aside for some internal structural parts its all plastic. That component is plastic except for the pin it rotates on and the lever that locks it open (can confirm as I had to smash a torso apart). They haven't put that feature on the recent HPP suits but I don't think that is because they can't. Shotgun doesn't have it (I think), but it can still do the ground pound pose.

Diecast, frankly, its heavier. The detail is a bit more blunt. Less options when posing, maybe you can eek out some flying poses but not easily. Not worth the extra cost, I wish they'd stop making them myself.

While die-cast does feel nicer in hand, I actually think plastic gives a much sleeker look with more intricate details that better capture what the IM suits actually look like, in my opinion.

I guess now we are stuck with the more expensive "diecast" figures. The plastic figures are gone forever replaced by the mostly plastic figures called diecast that we have to pay more for.

That sculpt has got to have a black eye... it is begging for it!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

I'd rather have an RDJ sculpt that is unique to the actual movie rather than just an average clean looking version.

As for the diecast discussion. I just think they feel more worth the price in hand. The diecast isn't visually noticeable to me, so that's not really a factor. When it comes to his main armors, I feel the diecast figures are more worth their price than the plastic ones are. That's perceived value, I know. But that's just my opinion.

I hope hot toys is able to ramp up the features on these armors.

Wouldn't mind it on a battle damaged version though...

On that note, do you guys think we'll be seeing a civilian Tony Stark?

A battle damaged/suited stark two pack?

A battle damaged/suited stark two pack?

I'd prefer them to be separate. Or at least separately with the ability to also buy a 2-pack. If it comes tied together like the Mk9/Pepper combo no thanks. Aside from this regular Mk46, I just want a battle damaged version. Maybe an exclusive? I do think a suited Stark would be pretty cool to see though, just not for me.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

I'd be down for a battle damaged version. Years ago we used to get some battle damaged parts with the figure. Not anymore. Now its a completely different figure we get :slap

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

If the suit gets totally wrecked in the movie, then BD parts wouldn't do the job.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

If the Tony Stark head sculpt for this figure ends up being a brand-new, improved head sculpt whose accuracy matches that of the 1/4 scale Mark 43, I personally wouldn't be too pleased if its perfection were marred by a black eye. If HT is going to make a black-eye head sculpt, I think it should come with a battle-damaged Mark 46 figure that is sold later as an exclusive.

Either that, or this figure could come with the black eye and the CW Tony Stark figure could come with the clean version of the head sculpt...assuming that figure is ever made, which I hope it is.

Oh this should be a brand new sculpt. If it wasn't, they wouldn't have blurred it out.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

'Scene specific' figures aren't new. The battle-damaged Terminators are always specific to a couple of short parts of the movie.. they just never seem to get the accessory and damage 100% right for the scenes they are going for. I think there is a possibility it could happen here considering so much of the trailer marketing has been pushing his bruised face, but yeh, the suit should match if that is the case..

It'll have a black eye, I'd bet on it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

I would be really surprised if it did not have a black eye.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

Seeing as he seemingly has this black eye for most of the film, it'd be a serious miss if they didn't include it.
