Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

I have a feeling we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one man. :wink1: Looks like a brand new sculpt to me!

Yeah I totally see that this is a new sculpt. The hair is definately different, around the eyes..100%. Is there a "neckless" version?

Looks like they aged RDJ a couple years with the new sculpt. Looks good.

I'm pretty sure Hot Toys already has the sculpt being manufactured. Somebody probably stole the designs to create it at another factory to sell early and make money early.

Gotta love it.. lmao

I agree it is a new sculpt. Look at the chin & nose. Chin is shorter on the new 1/6 and nose is slightly different, and subtle differences in the eyes, surrounding area.

Looks good too.

The chin looks shorter due to the way it's angled. The way the area around the mouth and eyes look "older" or more sunken is achievable with paint. If it's something you can do with paint and the differences are so subtle you can't even tell (hair doesn't count as it's a seperate piece most the time) there's no reason to spend money on tooling or even do the sculpt work. I don't have my tablet handy but if you have photo shop you can darken the shade around the wrinkles and it's identical except the hair.

Not trying to be a jerk or anything. But the structure of the heads looks identical. The difference I see are only due to angle and lens/camera differences. All the little sculpted details line up. Here's a an overlay of the two heads and when you consider they are at slight different angles and distance from the lens they are pretty perfectly matched, outside the hair. Which can be changed and the face be the same. It's the little things. The slight fold under the bottom lip and how it's identical on both. The top of the middle wrinkle in between his eyes has a little dimple imperfection at the same spot on both...there's a handful of other things. The rest...how the nose appears shaped..the depth of the folds around his mouth, that can be achieved with paint.

Not that it really matters either way. I just wanted folks to know what they where buying is all. If you like the new one better buy it. Lol

I have to disagree but all good. Won't be buying. I don't buy any sculpt not from an original HT. Just a preference thing.

You're not being a jerk at all dude, don't sweat it. But I still disagree. The main tell is the sculpting under the eyes -- it's there in the new one, it's not in the old. That aside, the new hair alone should be enough of an improvement for anyone who already has the 5.0 HS to consider this. I know it was for me!

Looks like a different sculpt to me, better eyes, softer, more of a tan realistic paint job, but its really hard to tell if it is different as there are a lot of similarities

So... Do you guys think they'll give him his proper weapons or no?

For the Mk46?

What weapons exactly? If I recall he only used his repulsers and one EMP thing to take out the helicopter, not much else they can include :dunno

Forearm rockets from the final battle would be nice at the very least.

There were the shoulder rockets he used at the airport (already included), and he also used a wrist mounted laser as well as forearm rockets during the final battle with Cap and WS. Its not as many weapons missing as it would be if they had done the Mark 6 and 7 this light... The laser doesn't bother me but I would like it if they added the rocket(s).

Oooooooh fair enough, I need to watch CW again :lol

Yes forearm rockets would be cool, and maybe the laser but I don't think those are too well liked here :lol

I like having the laser option with the visible weapon but the beam itself I doubt would ever come out of the box... Like with the new Mark VI

but this not really (especially as some people seem to pose them like they are lightsabers.

Yes completely agree ^^ :lecture The laser wrist emitter is great but the actual beams are dumb, and for some reason pink :slap

Actually I'd like to see someone display an Iron Man with the beams, fighting two Jedi or Sith characters :lol Anyone up to the challenge? :D

I don't use any "effect" parts for "blasts" or "magic" (like what comes with Scarlet Witch), I feel they take away from all the way the figures are "life like" and makes them feel more like cheap toys. But I don't mind if they are included if other people like them, I can just leave mine in the box. It would only matter to me if it meant that HT chose those kind of accessories over something else I would have preferred instead.

I could do kylo vs 45 if you want. I don't think I have any other Star Wars figures out of the box at the moment.
